Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty reduces the size of the labia minora AKA the inner flaps of skin on either side of the vagina. The procedure can be done via a trim or central wedge technique. The trim technique is when an incision is run along the length of the labia through which extra tissues and excess skin on the labia minora are trimmed to give a desirable size. The central wedge technique is when the surgeon removes a wedge or “pie slice” from the part of the labium that protrudes the most. The top of the labium is sutured to the bottom part to create a smaller labium.

Ideal candidates are women who want to reduce the size of the labia minora. Women that are self-conscious about the size or appearance of the labia are good candidates. In addition, women that have an asymmetric labia appearance are good candidates.

The cost of a labiaplasty ranges from $3000 - $12,000.The final cost depends on the technique used, anesthesia fees and the geographic location of the procedure.

Shortly after the procedure, mild discomfort, soreness, bruising and swelling will be experienced. The results can be obscured for a few weeks but they should be visible by the sixth week. Swelling can last for 4 or 5 months. The final results are long lasting and will be seen after 6 months. The results should be permanent but they can be altered by pregnancy or the natural aging process.
