Neck Contouring

Neck Contouring

Neck contouring gives a firm and smooth appearance to the neck and chin and provides a more defined jawline. Neck contouring can be a single surgery or multiple procedures. Liposuction removes excess fat via tiny incisions under the chin or behind the ears. A cannula suctions out the fat and contours the neck and chin. A neck lift removes excess skin and tightens loose neck muscles. The doctor makes an incision behind the ears and/or under the chin to tighten the muscles and remove sagging skin. Neck contouring can be combined with a facelift, chin augmentation or rhinoplasty to make sure the face and neck is naturally balanced while eliminating lines and wrinkles.

atients that qualify as good candidates for neck contouring include anyone with loose skin in the jawline and neck as well as a person with fat deposits in the neck. In addition, patients with thick muscle bands in the neck are ideal candidates. Patients that want a more youthful appearance to the neck, by eliminating signs of aging, are good candidates for neck contouring.

Neck contouring costs depend on the type of procedure performed by the surgeon. Plus, the cost can be higher if multiple treatments are performed to achieve the desired results. A neck lift costs around $4500-$13,000 while liposuction of the neck can cost from $2500-$8500. The cost of liposuction depends on the type of liposuction performed by the surgeon.

Neck lift recovery is extensive because a neck lift separates the layers of the neck from each other. The patient will wear a facial compression garment, to compress the swelling, for about 2 weeks. Final results are seen within 6 months and the results can last 5 to 10 years. Liposuction recovery requires the patient to wear a compression garments for several days to help reduce swelling and discomfort. As the swelling goes down, patients will begin to see their results. The fat that is removed can never come back so the results of liposuction are considered to be permanent. However, surrounding fat cells can grow if the patient does not maintain a healthy diet.
