How to get a bigger buttock through cosmetic procedures

When it comes to cosmetic surgery, one of the most popular topics is how to add some volume to the backside and get a bigger butt. Patients have multiple questions when it comes to the topic of cosmetic buttock augmentation:

  • Is there only one method?
  • Are there multiple butt augmentation techniques?
  • Is butt augmentation only a surgical procedure?
  • Are there non-invasive options to get a bigger butt?

In order to give patients the information they desire about butt augmentation, Cosmetic Town TV recently took an in-depth look at how to get a bigger butt using cosmetic procedures:

Brazilian Butt Lift Cosmetic Buttock Augmentation

A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is one of the most popular cosmetic buttock augmentation procedures currently available. This is the process of removing fat from one portion of the body that has excess fat, such as the back, hips, abdomen or thighs, and injecting the removed fat into the buttocks for greater volume and augmentation. Ideal BBL candidates need to have enough stubborn fat that can be removed using liposuction. This stubborn fat will be injected into the buttocks using fat grafting.

The cosmetic surgeon makes a small incision in the area targeted for liposuction to remove the fat from the part of the body with excess fat. A cannula is inserted into the layers of fat and then the doctor injects a solution into the layers of fat. The solution contains lidocaine, saline and epinephrine and this makes it easier for a cannula used by the doctor to break up the fat cells.

The targeted fat cells and fluid are removed through the use of a vacuum that is attached to the cannula. The removed fat is then processed and purified so it can be injected into the backside of the patient. The total amount of fat that is removed from the patient depends on the desired final augmentation results. Plus, patients enjoy a more contoured look to the area where the fat was removed thanks to the liposuction procedure.

In general, most patients can return to work anywhere from three to six weeks after having a BBL. It should be noted that not all of the fat that is removed and transferred will survive the fat grafting process. Plus, there is only so much fat that can safely be transferred as well as only a certain amount of fat available for transfer before the results begin to look unnatural. The total amount of fat grafting that can be performed varies per patient.

The final amount of butt augmentation that is achieved depends on the total amount of fat transferred during the BBL as well as the amount of fat that survives this cosmetic buttock augmentation treatment. Since the fat that is used during a BBL comes from the body of the actual patient, there is not much of a chance of the fat being rejected by the body. The final BBL results can last anywhere from several years to a lifetime provided the patient follows a healthy lifestyle as well as any instructions from the surgeon after the Brazilian butt lift.

Sculptra for Butt Augmentation

Sculptra is FDA-approved filler made with poly-L-lactic acid. The cosmetic surgeon will inject the Sculptra into the buttocks to give a greater volume and shape to the booty. Ideal candidates want to increase the volume or shape of the buttocks without having surgery and they do not have enough excess fat to have a BBL.  In addition, patients that want a bigger booty without making permanent changes to the backside are also ideal candidates.

Sculptra is performed via a series of treatments over a period of several months. The cosmetic surgeon numbs the buttocks and then the Sculptra butt filler is directly injected into the treated area. It can take anywhere from 2-4 treatments, performed 3-4 weeks apart, to get the desired results. There will be a noticeable difference in the booty after the first treatment and the results will continue to improve as the patient has more treatments. Sculptra uses the actual collagen of the patient to provide a greater lift along with a better contour to the backside. Patients will also enjoy increased firmness and better skin quality because of the increase in collagen production achieved by the treatment.

Patients will see some bruising for about 1-2 weeks as well as some soreness for a few days. The final results take six weeks to three months to become visible once the final treatment is performed. The results can last anywhere from 2-5 years and provide a lift to the buttocks along with a better shape and contour. The results are not permanent since this is not a surgical procedure.

Butt Implants for a Bigger Butt

Butt implants enhance and augment the size and shape of the gluteal region by the placement of implants made of a soft and solid silicone. They are somewhat round in shape and resemble an oval disc and the outer contour of the implants can be smooth or textured. Ideal candidates include patients that want rounded or fuller buttocks as well as patients with a flat or square butt or a butt with asymmetrical proportions.

Butt implants are normally placed using the intramuscular technique which means the implants are placed in a pocket in the gluteal muscle. The majority of surgeons make a vertical incision down the center of the sacrum until the buttock muscle is reached. The surgeon creates a pocket under, or within, each muscle for the implant. The implants are placed on each side of the booty and the muscle is closed around the implant. Then, the incision is closed with layered sutures.

Most patients take two weeks off work after butt implants because they are not able to sit for long periods of time. Patients can also expect some bruising, swelling and discomfort. The patient will wear a compression garment to provide support and to reduce pain and swelling. The patient can shower but will not be allowed to take a bath, go in a hot tub or swim for the first few weeks. Patients cannot sit on their buttocks for the first 2 weeks after butt implants except when using the restroom. Once the third week of recovery begins, a pillow can be used under the hamstring muscles since pressure should be kept off the newly augmented buttocks. Patients will need to sleep on their abdomen during the recovery period. After 4-6 weeks, patients can resume normal activities.

The results from butt implants are visible right after the surgery. It can take several months for the implants to settle into position. The results from butt implants can last a lifetime if patients maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep a stable weight.

Consult with a Board-Certified Butt Augmentation Doctor

Before making the final decision to undergo cosmetic butt augmentation to get a bigger butt, patients should consult with a board-certified doctor. The cosmetic surgeon will examine the patient and discuss the desired final results. Once the doctor and the patient are in agreement about the final results, the doctor will be able to determine the best buttock enhancement method to achieve the desired final results.
