Sculptra

Sculptra

Sculptra is injectable cosmetic filler that can be used to restore lost facial volume. It contains poly-L-lactic acid which is a biocompatible synthetic substance that stimulates collagen production. The designated injection sites are cleansed with an antibacterial agent and a topical anesthesia is applied. Sculptra is then injected carefully using multiple small injections. Then, the injection areas are massaged and the results are evaluated to see if further treatments are needed. The initial treatment consists of three injections spread out over three to four months.

Ideal candidates have shallow to deep nasolabial folds, lines, creases and facial wrinkles. Patients that are allergic to any ingredient of the product or have a history of keloid formation, hypertrophic scarring, skin sores, cysts, pimples, rashes or hives are not good candidates. Patients that are pregnant, lactating, breastfeeding or under 18 years of age are not ideal candidates for the procedure.

The typical cost for a Sculptra aesthetic procedure ranges from $1500-$3500.The final cost depends on fees charged by the hospital or surgical facilities, any necessary medical tests, the surgeon’s level of expertise and the geographic location of the procedure.

The procedure restores lost volume and gives the face a smooth and youthful look.  There could be some swelling, itching, redness, bruising or tenderness of the treated area that subside within 1-2 days. Massaging the treated area for five minutes at a time, five times a day, for five days can help to speed up the recovery. The results of the procedure are gradual so it may take a few weeks to see the full effects. The final results can last for 18-24 months.
