Paulina Porizkova Strikes Back at Doctor

In the 1980s, Paulina Porizkova was one of the most famous models in the world and her celebrity grew when she married the lead singer of a rock band. While she stepped out of the spotlight for a number of years, she has recently been in the news again for speaking out against the opinion of a surgeon who criticized her current appearance.

Supermodel Talks About Her Appearance

Paulina Porizkova is fifty-seven years of age and she recently got on Instagram to share her thoughts about a plastic surgeon who, in his opinion, pointed out everything that is “wrong” with her face. The post from the plastic surgeon was recently deleted but that did not stop Paulina from speaking her mind about the topic and the post.

While sharing a close-up photo of her current appearance, the supermodel wrote that she discovered the same photo had been reposted by the doctor who decided to “[discuss] in detail what [she] needed done.”

Paulina Porizkova Talks About AppearancePaulina recalled some of the items discussed by the plastic surgeon. “These pesky hollows under my cheeks could be gotten rid of with fillers, Botox for my forehead, those wrinkles on the side of my mouth, and the chords in my neck, and a whole bunch of lasers to tighten and smooth and tighten everything.”

She added, “This is what an older woman in the public eye gets to deal with. I’m told my face needs ‘fixing.’ It has somehow gone ‘wrong’ by aging.’ Is it any wonder than most of us who have the means will resort to some forms of fixing what we’re told is broken?”

The former Sports Illustrated model posed for a photo that was not retouched for the cover of Vogue Czechoslovakia in 2021. The photo featured her in a “full frontal nude” pose and also had Paulina discussing some of the nonsurgical treatments, “on the record,” she had undergone in the past including procedures such as Plasma Pen and laser treatments.

She also shared the following thoughts on Instagram, “I’d like to strike a balance between being proud to look my age and still get to feel pretty at times. In my job, I’m faced with my own face in almost unnatural detail – and although I have come to accept most of it, I still have a rough time accepting it all. But telling a woman what she ‘needs’ to do herself in order to be seen as attractive, whether it’s hair color, makeup, skin creams or clothing – or the more invasive options – is shaming her. Every time you catch yourself thinking or saying, ‘you know, you should...’ to a friend, stop for a moment. If she doesn’t ask for help, are you really helping?”

Porizkova ended her lengthy post by asking those who follow her to “find what you think is beautiful in your friends and point it out.” She also said that this is “the best way to support one another to celebrate what is already there.”

At the end of the post, she added some hashtags that she often puts on her posts and some of them included #betweenjloandbettywhite, #graypride, #acceptance, and “yourebeautifuljustthewayyouare.

Some of her friends posted their thoughts in the comments. Celebrity makeup artist Sandy Linter said, “May we all be this lucky to have your natural beauty inside and out. And by the way – kindness and humanity is a beauty that can’t be purchased and doesn’t age.” Photographer Nigel Barker added, “You can’t fix perfection.”

Celebrities – How They Fight the Aging Process

The thought of getting older is not an appealing one for most people and this includes celebrities who are used to being viewed as young and “in their prime” by the public. They often turn to cosmetic procedures to try and turn back the clock and maintain a vital and refreshed look.

Botox and fillers are injectables that help to reduce the look of wrinkles and fine lines on the face and also give the face a younger look. In addition, fillers help to restore volume that has been lost in the face thanks to getting older. While these treatments are effective in helping a celebrity (or members of the general public) gain a younger look, the results are not permanent, and a follow-up treatment will be necessary to maintain the changes made to the face. If a person wants to make alterations to the face that are long-lasting, they might want to consider having a surgical procedure such as a facelift that improves the appearance of the face through invasive surgery.
