Voluma is filler made of thick hyaluronic based gel. It is injected deep under the skin in the cheek area and results in increased volume as well as lifting and contouring of the cheeks. A few marks are made on the patient's face to provide guidance for the doctor to produce symmetry as well as to show areas where blood vessels are located. Voluma is injected just above the bone. The procedure is relatively painless. Most patients need 1-2 syringes to get the desired results.

Ideal candidates have a history of healthy facial muscles and neurological functions and want to enhance and refill their cheeks, replenish facial fullness and lift sagging skin to regain youthful contours. There is no gender restriction though candidates should be at least 21 years old. Patients that are allergic to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins or have a history of extreme allergies are not good candidates.

The typical cost for Voluma ranges from $600-$1500.The final cost depends in the surgeon’s level of expertise, the geographic location of the procedure, any fees charged by the facility and if any other procedures are performed at the same time.

The procedure restores lost volume in the face to give a younger look. There is virtually no downtime after the procedure but patients should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive exposure to sunlight and extreme heat. Patients might experience some mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. These effects are only temporary and should subside within two to three weeks. Patients should notice an instant improvement after receiving the Voluma injections. The results will last for a period of 18-24 months.
