Discover Sculptra Butt Lift – What it is and how it Works

Sculptra butt lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that uses Sculptra dermal filler to stimulate the production of collagen in the deep layers of the skin. The treatment is a minimally invasive, nonsurgical treatment that works to enhance the contour and shape of the butt. The size and shape of the buttocks is impacted by the aging process along with weight gain and loss and pregnancy. Sculptra butt lift gives a person a more contoured and shapely backside.

In order to get a better idea about the benefits of this nonsurgical buttock augmentation procedure, Cosmetic Town TV interviewed Dr. Annie Chiu, a Manhattan Beach dermatologist, to learn more about how Sculptra butt lift works:

How Does Sculptra Butt Lift Work?

During a Sculptra butt lift, a medical professional will inject Sculptra into the targeted area of the buttocks. Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that works to promote the production of collagen in the body. It also increases the volume of the butt in the targeted area so the patient enjoys a backside that is smoother, rounder and firmer in appearance. The injection of Sculptra injects poly-L-lactic acid in the dermal layers of the skin to increase the production of collagen.

The injections only take a few minutes to perform. After the procedure is completed, the medical professional that handed the injections might place a bandage over the area where they were made in the buttocks.  There is no downtime after a Sculptra butt lift is completed.

The amount of Sculptra that is injected into the butt depends on the type of results desired by the patient and the number of injections necessary to achieve those results. The amount of Sculptra that is injected by the doctor also depends on how much volume can be added to the butt of the patient while still maintaining a natural appearance to the buttocks.

In addition, the building of collagen can take several weeks to several months so patients will likely need multiple injections to see the desired changes and improvements in the shape and volume of the butt.

Sculptra for Use in the Buttocks

Patients should be aware that Sculptra is not currently approved by the FDA for use on any area of the body except for the face. This means that the use of this dermal filler in the buttocks is considered to be “off-label use”. However, it is generally considered to be a safe procedure when performed by an experienced and skilled injector.

Sculptra Butt Lift Risks and Side Effects

Patients can expect to see some risks and side effects from this cosmetic procedure. They include:

  • Redness
  • Bruising
  • Bumps or lumps (that will likely smooth out as time passes)
  • Asymmetrical look to the results
  • Itching
  • Rash
  • Infection
  • Nodules under the skin

Sculptra Butt Lift – Recovery and Results

The recovery time after a Sculptra butt lift can be described as “little to none”. The doctor will provide any post-treatment instructions such as avoiding strenuous exercise for a few days after the procedure.

The results are not instantly visible. In general, it can take around four to six months for the results to become noticeable to others. It takes a little while for the injections to boost the production of collagen in the body.

The results of a Sculptra butt lift are not permanent. The Sculptra is eventually absorbed by the body within two years of having the treatment. Patients will need to have a follow-up procedure in order to maintain their results.

Sculptra Butt Lift Cost

The cost of a Sculptra butt lift depends on a number of factors:

  • The amount of Sculptra that is used during the treatment
  • The number of injections that are performed to achieve the final results
  • The area of the country where the treatment takes place
  • The experience level of the doctor
  • Any additional fees charged by the doctor or the facility

According to 2018 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the cost of a Sculptra butt lift is $915 per vial. Most patients need an average of four vials of Sculptra to achieve their desired results so the final cost can be over $4000.

Sculptra butt lift is considered to be a cosmetic procedure. Since it is not viewed as being medically necessary, the cost is likely not covered by insurance.

Sculptra Butt Lift or Surgical Butt Lift

One of the main reasons patients like getting a bigger buttocks without surgery is that it does not involve a long recovery time (like an invasive surgery). Some patients also enjoy having a nonsurgical procedure so they can get a better idea of what their backside will look like after it a lift procedure is performed on it.

If a person likes the results of the nonsurgical technique, the next step can be a surgical butt lift such as Brazilian butt lift (BBL). A patient can also decide to have buttock implants placed in the booty.

In order to determine the best butt augmentation option, a patient should schedule a consultation appointment with a board-certified medical professional that is experienced in performing Sculptra butt lift. The doctor can examine the patient to make sure the person is in good health and can have the desired treatment. The doctor will also learn the goals of the patient to make the desired butt augmentation procedure is the best option to gain the final results.
