Brazilian Butt Lift – Why is it Performed

Why Brazilian Butt Lift is Performed

Many women want to gain a booty that is round, contoured, and big enough to get noticed by others. The ability to have a contoured butt is not available naturally for some females as they were born with a backside that is flat and/or without a lot of shape. Thankfully, they can get the buttocks they want by undergoing a Brazilian butt lift (BBL). Not sure what this surgery is and how it can alter the appearance of the butt? Take a look at the informative article below to learn more about BBL plastic surgery.

Brazilian Butt Lift – Reasons it is Performed/How it is Performed

As people continue to age, their skin becomes less elastic which means it might start to sag a bit. A Brazilian butt lift is designed to lift the backside and give a person a rounder and more toned look to the butt.

During the surgery, the doctor will remove excess fat from another part of the body using liposuction. Not only does liposuction remove fat cells that are stubborn and resistant to exercise, it also provides a more contoured look to the area of the body where the liposuction was performed. Some of the most popular areas of the body where liposuction is performed include the lower back, abdomen, thighs, and the stomach. For example, if fat cells are removed from the stomach, the removed fat is processed and purified before the removed fat is injected into the butt (fat transfer from stomach to buttocks). The transferred fat helps to add volume to the butt and give it more size and volume.

Brazilian Butt Lift and Butt Implants – What is the Difference?

The biggest difference between a Brazilian butt lift and butt implants is that a BBL does not require the use of buttock implants to provide the desired changes to the backside. Instead, the surgeon uses fat from the body of the actual patient to gain the desired enhancement and augmentation.

A BBL is an ideal choice for someone with enough excess fat to transfer from one part of the body to the butt. Butt implants are a good choice for someone without enough excess fat anywhere on the body to transfer to the buttocks. In addition, the results of a Brazilian Butt Lift look and feel more natural than the results of butt implants.

Brazilian Butt Lift – Recovery Process

Patients can expect to feel some pain after the procedure, but they should be able to manage it with pain medications.

A person that had a BBL will be advised against sitting on their buttock, or sleeping on their back, for a number of weeks after the surgery. They will need to sleep on their side, so they do not impact the recovery process of the Brazilian butt lift.

For the first few months after the BBL, patients can use a special pillow that is shaped like a donut to avoid putting any pressure on the backside.

Brazilian Butt Lift – Possible Risks

It should be noted that almost all surgical procedures include some type of risk to the patient. Patients that choose a surgeon that is board-certified and experienced in performing the procedure of choice will be reducing the chance of experiencing complications after the surgery.

Some of the possible risks of a Brazilian butt lift include:

  • Infection
  • Numbness
  • Decrease in skin sensation
  • Scarring
  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Seroma (a collection of fluid below the skin)
  • Not all of the transferred fat surviving the fat grafting process
  • Wounds not healing properly

Brazilian Butt Lift – Ideal Candidates

Patients that are considered to be an ideal candidate for a Brazilian butt lift include someone with enough excess fat somewhere on their body to have it removed, via liposuction, and then transferred to the butt.

Other ideal candidates are people that want to enhance or increase the size of their small buttocks, those with a backside that is asymmetrical in appearance and someone that has experienced a change in the contour or shape of the butt due to a dramatic amount of weight loss.

Brazilian Butt Lift - Results

Once the Brazilian butt lift is performed, there will be an immediate improvement in the contour and shape of the buttocks along with an improvement in the area of the body where the liposuction was performed.

It can take around three months to see the final results, but the results should be permanent once they are visible. The results can be impacted by a large weight gain or loss on the part of the patient. In addition, the patient will need to follow the post-op instructions from the surgeon in order to maintain the final results.

Patients that are interested in learning the type of results they can expect from a BBL should schedule a consultation appointment with a board-certified doctor. The doctor will make sure the patient is healthy enough to have the procedure and also determine if the patient has enough excess, stubborn fat on the body to transfer to the buttocks.
