Butt lift and thigh lift techniques that provide contour

The desire to have tighter and more contoured buttocks and thighs are shared by many people across the country. Celebrities often show off their backsides that have a good shape and volume to them when they walk the red carpet as well as in photos that capture them going about their daily lives. When it comes to gaining a better contour to the butt and thighs, patients have a number of techniques they can undergo to achieve the desired results. To make it easier for patients that want to undergo a thigh lift and/or a butt lift, Cosmetic Town has compiled a number of the most popular methods of enhancing and augmenting the appearance of the butt and thighs using a butt lift or a thigh lift.

Butt Lift Techniques

Patients that are unhappy with the size, shape or appearance of their buttocks can enhance the look of their backside thanks to a butt lift. This cosmetic surgery procedure can be customized to the individual needs of the patient in order to reach the desired results. Patients can address the issue of droopy skin by having a traditional butt lift that removes excess fat, skin and tissue. On the other hand, patients that want to gain a subtle augmentation to their booty can choose to have a Brazilian butt lift (BBL). In either case, the patient will enjoy a firmer and more contoured backside.

During a traditional butt lift, the surgeon makes an incision into the buttocks in order remove thin layers of fat, skin and tissue. The doctor can also tighten the underlying muscles and make sutures deep in the tissue to hold the buttocks into a lifted position. Traditional butt lift procedures include:

  • An upper butt lift is where the surgeon makes an incision across the contours of the top of the buttocks. This allows the surgeon to have access to the underlying tissues in order to remove or reposition any excess tissue to improve the appearance of the booty.
  • Patients with sagging that is mild to moderate can have a butt lift that involves tissue being excised from the bottom of the buttocks in order to remove any unwanted tissue as well as move the bottom crease of the buttocks upward.
  • A “butterfly butt lift” is named after the incision made by the cosmetic surgeon. The incision starts at the central crease of the buttock and moves up and outward. This type of butt lift tightens tissues that sag but it does not lift or reposition the buttocks.

A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is when the surgeon removes stubborn, unwanted fat from areas of the body such as the abdomen or thighs using liposuction. The fat is removed and then purified before being injected back into the buttocks of the patient. This butt lift technique adds volume while also lifting the buttocks and providing a more youthful and rejuvenated look to the backside. A BBL requires fewer incisions and is not considered as invasive a procedure as a traditional butt lift.

A traditional butt lift, as well as Brazilian butt lift, provides patients with perkier and firmer backsides. The big difference is that a traditional butt lift is more focused on providing a slimmer appearance to the butt while a BBL involves adding volume to the butt for a younger and more contoured look. In general, the results of both are long-lasting provided the patient follows a healthy lifestyle and does not have major weight fluctuations.

Ideal candidates for a traditional butt lift include patients that have excess fat, skin and tissue in the buttocks that need to be removed to contour the buttocks. They should also be at a stable weight since weight loss or gain can void the results of the butt lift. Candidates for a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) want to add volume to their booty. They need to have enough excess fat elsewhere in the body that can be removed, using liposuction, and then processed and purified in order for it to be transferred into the buttocks.

Thigh Lift Procedure

A thigh lift, AKA thighplasty, is a cosmetic surgery that removes excess skin and fat from the thighs of a patient in order to tighten and improve the appearance of the upper legs. There are several thigh lift options for patients to help them achieve their desired results:

  • An inner thigh lift is when an incision is made where the thigh meets the pubic area so the patient can hide the scar by wearing a pair of underwear
  • An outer thigh lift will tighten the skin on the outside of the leg, as well as the front of the leg, using an incision that creates a “V” shape
  • A mini thigh lift is used on the upper third of the leg so it leave a short scar in the groin
  • A medial thigh lift is performed on the upper part of the inner thigh and it uses an incision in the groin that goes to the back of the buttock crease

According to Dr. Perry Liu, a plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills, “Patients who are ideal candidates for a thigh lift have problems with their thighs such as lax skin and bunching up in their thighs while patients with sagging, loose skin or a droopy butt are a good candidate for a butt lift. They are two different areas and, depending on what their situation is, one or the other would be more appropriate.”

The results of a thigh lift are not seen right away because of bruising and swelling. In general, it can take up to a year for the results of any type of thigh lift to become visible. Dr. Liu added the “results from a thigh lift are fairly long lasting but, as with anything, skin quality may not be that great and may continue to loosen up with time. But typically, people don’t need to do it again."

Consult with a Board-Certified Butt Lift or Thigh Lift Doctor

Patients interested in undergoing either procedure should consult with a board-certified doctor that is experienced in performing these cosmetic surgery procedures. The doctor can examine the patient to determine if the person is an ideal candidate for a butt lift or a thigh lift as well as the best cosmetic surgery technique to help the person achieve the desired final results.
