Thigh Lift

A thigh lift, or thighplasty, removes excess fat and skin from the thighs to improve the look of the upper legs. Patients with a greater amount of skin, fat and tissue need longer incisions. Inner thigh lift makes an incision where the thigh meets the pubic area so the scar is hidden by underwear. A mini thigh lift targets the upper third of the leg and leaves a short scar in the groin. An outer thigh lift tightens the skin on the outside and the front of the leg with an incision that creates a “V shape”. A medial thigh lift is done on the upper portion of the inner thigh via an incision in the groin that goes to the back of the buttock crease.

People with sagging thighs that have soft tissue and unwanted skin are good candidates for a thigh lift. In general, patients should be in good health and at a stable weight. Candidates should also have realistic expectations entering the procedure and follow a healthy diet and lifestyle in order to maintain their results.

Thighplasty is designed specifically for each patient so the cost varies depending on the individual needs of the person. The average price of the procedure is $5000-$8000 although it can be as low as $2000 and as high as $10,000. The final cost depends on the incision, where the surgery is performed, any medicine or special garments required by the patient after the surgery, facility fees, anesthesia fees and if insurance covers any of the cost.

The results from a thigh lift are not immediately apparent due to swelling and bruising. Even though some slimming will be visible once the swelling and bruising starts to fade, it can take up to a year for the final results to be seen regardless of the type of thigh lift performed. If a person stays in good overall health, and follows the instructions from their doctor, thigh lift results can last for 20 years or longer.
