Vaginoplasty

Vaginoplasty is a procedure to tighten the vagina. The procedure begins with the cleansing of the vagina and the surrounding skin. Then, the amount of tightening to be done is determined. A pie-shaped wedge is marked to delineate the extra skin to be removed from inside the vagina. Beneath the skin, the vaginal tissues are tightened with strong sutures. Once the vaginal canal has been tightened, the mucosal skin is sutured closed. Any protruding external skin is reduced for a more aesthetic result.

Ideal candidates are healthy women who want to tighten their vaginal canal. Patients suffering from bleeding disorders, medical conditions that can impair the healing process or have a history of scarring are not good candidates.

The typical cost for vaginoplasty ranges from $8000-$10,000.The final cost depends on anesthesia fees, doctor or surgical facility fees, anesthesia fees, the surgeon’s level of expertise, the geographic location of the procedure and if other procedures are performed at the same time.

The procedure tightens the tissues of the vagina. Shortly after the procedure, mild discomfort, soreness, bruising and swelling will be experienced. Generally, 1-2 weeks of downtime is needed after the procedure. Vigorous activities should be avoided for about 3-6 weeks. The results of the procedure are evident after a couple of months and can last a lifetime unless a new vaginal delivery reverses the effects.
