Pectoral Implants

Pectoral implant surgery involves placing a silicone implant under the chest muscle to give a more muscular appearance to the chest. A small incision is made in the armpit and the pectoral muscles are localized through the incision. A cut is then made in the fascia (outer covering of the muscle). Next, a pocket is created below the fascia of the pectoral muscles. The implants are inserted in the created pocket under the pectoral muscle. The muscle lining is then sutured close with absorbable sutures. The procedure takes 1-2 hours to complete.

Ideal candidates are individuals that have a hard time achieving the chest muscle mass and tone they desire. Other candidates had an injury or accident which makes muscle mass augmentation necessary to achieve normal balance. Patients that smoke, suffer from bleeding disorders or have an infection that can impair the healing process are not good candidates.

The cost of a pec implant procedure ranges from $6000-$10,000. The final cost varies depending on surgical fees, the surgeon’s level of expertise and the geographic location of the procedure.

The procedure produces a muscular and sculpted appearance. A compression garment is worn for a few weeks to reduce the amount of body fluids that may seep into the treated area. Patients generally experience mild to moderate discomfort, swelling, bruising and soreness after the procedure. Routine activities can be resumed within two weeks but strenuous activities should be avoided for two months. The implants are designed to last a lifetime.
