Unlike traditional liposuction, laser liposuction is not performed to remove fat cells. It is performed to shrink the targeted fat cells. Pads equipped with laser diodes are placed directly onto the skin. This allows the fiber optic laser energy from the laser lipo device to penetrate the targeted fat cells This process also temporarily perforates their membranes which, in turn, causes fat cells to release any stored fatty acids, water and glycerol into the body. The fat cells shrink which results in a loss of inches on the body. The treatment can be used on the abdomen, neck, hips, thighs and arms.
