Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is an acid solution used to remove outer layers of skin, smooth the texture of the skin and reduce wrinkles, facial blemishes, acne and uneven skin pigmentation.  The peel exfoliates outer layers of dead skin to reveal a new layer of skin with improved tone and texture. A light peel treats lighter wrinkles, acne and uneven pigmentation while a medium peel treats fine surface wrinkles, pigmentation issues and blemishes. A deep peel uses phenol acid to treat coarse facial wrinkles, signs of aging, pre-cancerous growths and blotches due to sun exposure

In general, candidates for chemical peels are individuals unhappy with the appearance of their skin. They want to address issues such as acne, wrinkles, age spots, and sun damage while improving the texture of the skin. The results desired by the patient, as well as their skin texture and tone, will determine the type of peel that will give them the best results.

The cost of a chemical peel varies by the type of peel performed as well as any fees charged by the doctor or the facility. In general, the costs for each peel are:

  • Light peel - $100-$250
  • Medium peel - $400-700
  • Deep peel - $700-$1000

The final results of a chemical peel vary according to the type of peel performed. The results also vary according to the patient skin type and the skin care regimen followed after the procedure. A light peel treats the top layers of skin and the results last from a few weeks to a month. Medium peels go further into the skin and last 3-6 months. Deep peels provide dramatic results that can last for several years.
