LED Skin Treatment


 LED skin treatment is a painless, non-invasive skin treatment that uses an array of bright light-emitting diodes to stimulate collagen production. The LED handpiece is gently moved across the areas to be treated and it emits low-level light energy into the deeper layers of the skin. Red light LED stimulates cellular activity, including the fibroblasts that produce collagen. Blue light LED kills bacteria that lives below the surface of the skin and is responsible for acne.

Ideal candidates suffer from acne, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged oil glands, precancerous skin lesions and sun damage. Patients who have cold sores or other open sores on the area of treatment or have a history of keloid formation (scarring) are not good candidates for the treatment.

The typical cost ranges from $150-$500.The final cost can be a little more depending on the size of the area to be treated, surgical facility fees and the geographic location of the procedure.

The procedure requires little to no downtime but there could be some slight redness, tingling and itching after the treatment. Patients should avoid excessive exposure to sunlight shortly after the procedure. For the best results, 4-6 treatments spaced 1-2 weeks apart are needed. The results are evident after about four treatments. The results last for 6-12 months depending on how well the aftercare routine is followed.
