Zoom teeth whitening gives people noticeably brighter teeth

The desire to have a bright and fresh smile is one shared by almost every person. Unfortunately, some people are afraid to give others a big smile because of a dull or stained appearance to their teeth.  The teeth can become dull in appearance thanks to food and drink that can stain them as well as a lack of proper oral hygiene on the part of a person. There is a cosmetic dentistry technique known as teeth whitening that provides people the bright and glowing smile that they desire on a daily basis. One of the most popular teeth whitening techniques performed by cosmetic dentists on a regular basis is Zoom teeth whitening. Cosmetic Town TV recently visited one of the most prominent cosmetic dentists in Beverly Hills to learn more about the benefits of Zoom teeth whitening:

Zoom Teeth Whitening Explained

The first step of the Zoom teeth whitening experience is the examination of the teeth for any dental issues that need to be addressed. Once the cosmetic dentist is sure that the patient has teeth that are healthy enough for the treatment, the Zoom teeth whitening process will begin.

The patient will visit the office of the cosmetic dentist to have a protecting gel placed on the soft tissue and gums. Once these areas of the mouth are protected, hydrogen peroxide gel is applied to the teeth using a tray or a small brush. After the hydrogen peroxide gel is in place, a UV light is used to activate the gel by allowing oxygen to enter the enamel and dentin layer of the teeth. This process will break stains apart while not damaging the structure of the tooth. The placing of the gel, as well as the use of the UV light, is repeated an additional two times before the first gel is removed and a fluoride gel that reduces the sensitivity felt by the teeth of the patient is applied to the teeth. Overall, the Zoom teeth whitening process takes about 90 minutes.

Once the cosmetic dentist office visit is over, the patient will take home bleaching trays that fit the teeth as well as some home bleaching gel tubes. These items will be used for two weeks for around 15-20 minutes per day to continue whitening the teeth and to maintain the results.

Ideal Candidates and Cost of Zoom Teeth Whitening

Ideal candidates for Zoom teeth whitening include someone with stained or discolored teeth but still enjoying healthy teeth and gums. Patients with dental restoration are not ideal candidates as dental restorations are immune to whitening substances so they might get an uneven appearance between the teeth and the dental restoration. In addition, patients that have gums that are bleeding or have teeth that are sensitive are also not ideal candidates.

The cost of Zoom teeth whitening depends on the amount of work performed by the cosmetic dentist as well as the price that the dentist charges for the trays and gels that are brought home for the at-home portion of Zoom teeth whitening. In general, the cost is anywhere from $150-$500 and is likely not covered by dental insurance so the patient will have to pay for the treatment out of pocket.

Zoom Teeth Whitening Recovery, Results and Risks

The recovery process from Zoom teeth whitening is not difficult for patients. They might feel a small tingling sensation but this sensation will resolve on its own. If patients need some additional help to address the tingling sensation, Advil or Tylenol can be used to address sensitivity to the teeth. No downtime is necessary after the treatment so patients will be able to immediately resume their normal activities.

The results of Zoom teeth whitening are seen almost immediately after the treatment. Thanks to the at-home whitening portion of the treatment process, patients will continue to see improved results. The length of the results depends on how well patients stay away from food and drink that can stain the teeth after the procedure. In addition, practicing proper oral hygiene after Zoom teeth whitening can help the results last for a long time because brushing the teeth on a regular basis is critical in keeping stains from reappearing on the teeth. Finally, regular visits to the dentist can help patients maintain white, bright teeth that make the mouth look healthy in appearance. The results generally last for 18 months before a patient needs to have a follow-up treatment.

When it comes to undergoing Zoom teeth whitening treatment, there are some common risks that patients should be aware of:

  • Sensitivity to the teeth
  • Damage to the root of the tooth
  • Some slight burns on the gums if any of the hydrogen peroxide gets on the gums

Zoom Teeth Whitening is a Good Choice for Many Patients

Zoom teeth whitening is a very popular cosmetic dentistry treatment that is enjoyed by many patients. In order to determine if a person is an ideal candidate for Zoom teeth whitening, the person needs to have the teeth examined by a board-certified cosmetic dentist. The dentist will examine the teeth of the person to determine if Zoom teeth whitening will help the patient achieve the desired results.
