Earlobe Fillers Explained

How earlobe fillers fix areas of the ear that are stretched

Fillers have been quite popular for many years as they work to add volume to areas of the face that have lost volume due to the aging process. Injectable fillers restore lost volume and also reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines in the area being treated. The desire to use fillers to provide a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance to the body has expanded beyond the facial area on patients. Earlobe fillers have grown in popularity on patients that are used to wearing larger earrings or have earlobes that look wrinkled or older because of prolonged exposure to the sun.

Many patients are getting earlobe fillers to add some lift and volume to their earlobes. In order to give our readers a better idea about how earlobe fillers work, Cosmetic Town TV recently took an in-depth look at the process of getting earlobe fillers:

Why Patients get Earlobe Fillers

Patients that are ideal candidates for earlobe fillers include women that have worn heavy earrings or other forms of jewelry for many years and they are looking for some lift to their earlobes. The constant wearing of heavy earrings has caused the earlobes to stretch out and attain an appearance that is best described as sagging. The tissue becomes thin and stretched so the filler is injected to add volume and support the earrings. The fillers can also narrow the hole created in the ears thanks to the earlobes that are stretched out.

Many doctors point out that production of collagen can decrease as a person gets older and this can cause the earlobe to look thin and older. The process of having earlobe fillers placed in the ears is often referred to as “eartox” since it provides a smooth look to the appearance of the ears by getting rid of deep lines and adding some definition to the area. In addition, the earlobe fillers give patients a more youthful and rejuvenated look to the earlobes.

How Earlobe Fillers Procedures are Performed

The process of placing earlobe fillers, also known as earlobe plumping, is the injection of fillers into the areas of the ear that need refreshing because of a sagging or thin appearance.

The earlobe is injected with fillers in several areas and the fillers add volume to the area that is droopy. The earlobe fillers draw fluid into the treated area which causes the injected area to inflate and gain volume. As a result, the treated area of earlobe tissue gains an appearance that is softer and more hydrated.

The earlobe filler, which is often Restylane or Juvederm, is injected around the pierced hole in the ear for the earrings. The injection of filler prevent the earlobes from ripping while also giving some extra cushioning for jewelry that patients like to wear even though the jewelry is heavy.

Celebrity Earlobe Fillers

One celebrity that has admitted to having earlobe fillers placed in her ears is Kim Zolciak. She is one of the original stars of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and had fillers placed in her ears because her diamond earrings are too heavy.

Another celebrity with earlobe issues is the mother of the Kardashian/Jenner reality TV family, Kris Jenner. Jenner has stated that her earlobes are a big source of insecurity for her because of their large size and their droopy appearance. Instead of getting earlobe fillers to address the issue of their appearance, Jenner had earlobe reduction surgery to reduce the circumference of the area that was drooping through the physical removal of a chunk of tissue.

Earlobe Fillers are Not a Permanent Solution

Like all other fillers, earlobe fillers are not a permanent solution for the area of the body being treated. The filler is eventually absorbed by the body. In addition, the amount of change that can be achieved in the appearance of the earlobes is limited by the size and length of the hole in the ear that has been created by wearing the heavy earrings. If the hole in the earlobe is a very large hole, the fillers can only make so much of a change in the appearance of the hole. .

Earlobe Fillers Cost

The cost of having earlobe fillers depends on the type of filler used and the amount of filler that is injected in order to achieve the desired results. In general, the cost is anywhere from $600-$1200 although it could be more. Patients should check with their doctor to determine their earlobe filler options.

Earlobe Fillers Consultation Appointment

Before making the final decision to have earlobe fillers injected into the ears, patients should schedule a consultation appointment with a board-certified doctor. The doctor can examine the earlobes of the patient to determine the best filler to use to achieve the desired results. In addition, the doctor can set realistic expectations so the patient will know what to expect when it comes to the amount of change that can be achieved by having earlobe fillers placed in the thin and stretched areas of the ears.
