Do Not Adjust Your Set – Just Your Looks!

Posted September 23, 2015

The fall television season is when the major networks introduce programs designed to become new favorites and (hopefully) entertain the American public for many years. The new programs aren’t the only thing that has changed on television screens across the county. The looks of some of America’s favorite TV stars seem a bit different. Can it be true that many actors and actresses have undergone some form of plastic surgery to alter their looks?

Celebrities and Plastic Surgery

  • Courteney Cox is one celebrity whose name is always mentioned during discussions of altered celebrity looks. The former “Friends” star might feel a little pressure to maintain her looks since her younger self is on television every single day thanks to reruns. This TV star has been spotted with a puffy face that might be the result of a few too many Botox injections. Many celebrity experts claim Cox has had Botox to prevent fine lines and wrinkles as she ages. It’s also been speculated that Cox has received her fair share of cheek fillers and lip fillers.
  • Kaley Cuoco of “The Big Bang Theory calls getting breast implants the best decision she ever made and has no regrets about spending the money to make herself happy with her new breasts.
  • Christina Aguilera has caused more than chairs to turn recently.  The TV and singing sensation has prompted a few double takes in the last month as people have started to notice a different look for “The Voice” judge. There has been no solid proof that Christina has undergone work and some people feel her changing looks are simply a result of wearing less makeup.  Others are wondering if Aguilera has gained some weight which could account for the fuller cheeks and jawline. However, many celebrity watchers are weighing in with theories ranging from fillers to rhinoplasty.
  • NeNe Leakes is an actress as well as a reality TV star. She has undergone quite a transformation since she first rose to prominence in 2008. Leakes admitted to having a breast lift as well as a breast reduction, liposuction and a nose job. When asked why she’s had so much work done over the years, Leakes replied that she wanted to look like a better version of herself.
  • Tori Spelling (“Beverly Hills 90210” and various reality shows with her husband) grew up as the daughter of one of the most successful television producers in Hollywood. She had everything she could possibly want as a child.  As she got older, there was one part of her body that she was not happy with at all. She finally got the breast implants she always dreamed of when she was in her 20s.  Following the breast implants, Spelling was also suspected of having a nose job.
  • Ashley Tisdale has been on screen almost all of her life. As a child, she had minor roles in theatre and television and was featured in over 100 advertisements. Her success further skyrocketed when she starred in the “High School Musical” franchise. Ashley has always been open about her plastic surgery history. She had rhinoplasty in 2007 to fix a deviated septum. Tisdale said, "I didn't do this because I believe in plastic surgery, I did this to help my health. I literally almost couldn't breathe out of the right side of my nose".
  • Patricia Heaton is known for her roles on “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “The Middle”. The Emmy award winner had a tummy tuck and a breast reduction in 2003. Heaton revealed in an interview that she needed the surgery because she had previously undergone four C-sections which disfigured her stomach and that breastfeeding her babies made her nipples like “platters”.
  • Jamie Lee Curtis made her film debut in 1978 in John Carpenter's horror film, “Halloween”. In an interview way back in 2002, she said: "I've done it all, I've had a little plastic surgery, I've had a little lipo, I've had a little Botox".
  • Naya Rivera is another actress that has been in front of a camera since childhood. She started her career as a child actress and model in several television commercials. Rivera's mainstream success was started by her role as Santana Lopez on the Fox series “Glee”. She has talked about her breast augmentation procedure at the age of 18 in her book “Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes and Growing Up”. Rivera wrote, "People have a lot of opinions about plastic surgery, but more than ten years after I got my boobs, they still make me happy whenever I look in the mirror."
  • Robin Wright isn't just known for her commanding role as Claire Underwood in the Netflix political drama, “House of Cards”. She loves Botox and she isn't shy to admit it. She told the Telegraph in 2014. "It's just the tiniest sprinkle of Botox twice a year. I think most women do 10 units, but that freezes the face and you can't move it. This is just one unit, and it's just sprinkled here and there to take the edge off. Perhaps it's not wise to put that in a magazine? But I ain't hiding anything."

Celebrities are known for Their Changing Looks Thanks to Plastic Surgery

These ladies are just a few of the folks on TV that have either admitted to, or been suspected of, having plastic surgery to enhance their looks.  There is one big difference between their starring roles on television and the way they look in public. Not all television shows succeed and, thanks to public indifference and low ratings, many of them will be canceled and disappear from sight before the end of the television season. For many of these celebrities, their post-procedure looks will not fade from the public eye. In fact, they might become better known for their changing looks than anything they do in the future on the small screen.
