Why are compression or elastic garments wore after liposuction?

My sister-in-law had her liposuction for almost 2 weeks now. As far as I know, she was instructed that she should wear her compression garment all the time even when she sleeps. I don’t see her wearing it as instructed that’s why Im worried. Can it affect the end result of her procedure? How can I convince her to wear it all the time?

Compression Garments Are a Must!

Compression is needed after liposuction to help reduce swelling, promote healing, and improve the overall contour of the treated area. The compression garment applies gentle pressure to the treated area, which helps to reduce fluid buildup and supports the skin and underlying tissues as they heal. This can also help to reduce discomfort and improve the final cosmetic results of the liposuction procedure.
