UltraShape

UltraShape uses ultrasound energy to destroy targeted fat cells. A specially designed belt is wrapped around the abdomen and a soothing gel is applied to the skin. A transducer is then moved over the targeted area to deliver focused, pulsed ultrasound energy below the skin. The treatment causes the fat cell membranes to rupture. The treatment takes less than an hour to perform and is normally used on the abdomen and the flanks.

Ideal candidates will have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or less. They can also pinch an inch (or so) of fat around their midsection. Patients should be within 15-20 pounds of their desired weight and have some stubborn areas of fat they cannot eliminate through diet and exercise.

The cost of UltraShape is in the range of $1200-$4000. The final cost depends on the size of the area being treated, the number of treatments performed to get the final results, any fees charged by the doctor or the facility and the area of the country where it is performed.

The final results provide a decrease in fat cells and a firmer, more contoured shape to the body. The results are long lasting as the treated fat cells will not return. Patients need to maintain a healthy diet as the fat cells around the targeted area can continue to grow.
