Thermage

Thermage is a skin tightening procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to tighten and rejuvenate the skin on the face. It treats imperfections such as wrinkles, uneven skin tone and unsightly bulges on the face. Thermage is non-surgical and induces the production of collagen. The radiofrequency device is passed over the skin. Each time the device touches the skin of the patient, there is a brief cooling effect and then a heating sensation that means the energy is going deep into the skin to start the production of collagen. The procedure takes 45-60 minutes for the face and 90 minutes for the rest of the body.

Ideal candidates for Thermage include patients wanting a non-invasive method to tighten the skin and treat any wrinkles and fine lines. Patients that want some tightening on the skin can also have Thermage performed on other parts of the body for issues such as cellulite. It is also a good option for patients in their 30s and 40s who are starting to see signs of aging such as sagging skin and jowls. It can treat existing conditions as well as prevent signs of aging in the future.

The cost of Thermage varies by the geographic location of the country where it is performed, the extent of the treatment, any fees charged by the doctor or the facility and if there are additional procedures performed at the same time. Overall, the cost of a Thermage treatment is $2000-$4000.

Some results from Thermage can be seen right away but it normally takes up to six months to see the final results. There might be some swelling and redness after the treatment but they should resolve with a day or two. As long as the patient takes good care of the skin post-procedure, the results can last for several years. The results are not meant to compete with the results of a surgical facelift so patients will need additional treatments at some point to maintain the results.
