Stretch Mark Removal

Stretch marks result from rapid weight gain or loss or from the building of muscle. Laser treatments can be used to lighten stretch marks and improve the shininess and texture of the area. Pulsed light lasers send a wavelength of energy that will be absorbed by the stretch mark but not the surrounding skin. Other kinds of lasers are used to resurface the skin which causes the top layer to exfoliate and reveal new healthy skin below.

Individuals with stretch marks that they would like to remove are excellent candidates for these treatments. Pulsed light laser treatments work best on individuals with fair skin.

The cost depends on the type of laser being used, the size of the area being treated, facility fees and the area of the country where it is performed. The cost generally ranges from $400-$1200 per session.

For a day or two after treatment, the area will appear red and similar to sunburn. About a week after treatment, the stretch marks get lighter and the texture improves. Results will continue to increase over the next three months as more collagen is formed. Though the stretch marks will never completely disappear, they will become lighter and unnoticeable to the untrained eye.
