Liposuction Revision

Liposuction revision corrects irregularities or undesirable results of a previous liposuction procedure. The most common reason for revision was the prior removal of too much or too little fat. The corrections can be performed via additional liposuction, fat grafting or excision of loose skin. The decision about which treatment to use depends on the reason for the revision. Revision lipo to remove more fat is similar to the first surgery while revision for too much fat being removed is often performed using fat grafting.

Ideal candidates are anyone unhappy with their initial results and this can include patients who had results that involved too much or too little fat being removed. In addition, patients that have irregularities of the skin or dimpling after their surgery are good candidates. Anyone with skin that is loose and hanging or has asymmetric results is also a good candidate.

The cost of liposuction revision depends on the type of revision performed as well as how complex the revision work will be for the surgeon. In general, the cost is anywhere from $4000-$15,000. The final cost depends on the skill of surgeon, if other procedures are performed at the same time and the area of the country where it is performed.

Patients will see immediate changes in their appearance but there will still be some bruising and swelling. The bruising lasts for a week or two but the swelling can last for 6 month. After a year, the final results will be visible. In order to maintain long lasting results, patients need to remain near their ideal weight and understand that the aging process can impact the results.
