Buttock Implants

To enhance the shape and size of the rear end, implants are placed in the buttock area. The procedure is the surgical placement of implants, made from FDA approved semi-solid medical grade silicone, into the buttocks. Implants are placed through an incision in the buttock crease or where the back of the thigh meets the buttock cheeks. A pocket is surgically created to place the butt implants above or below the muscle. The implants are teardrop shaped to provide more fullness along the buttock mid-section or round to give a fuller appearance at the top and mid-section. A compression garment is placed on the treated area to help maintain swelling.

Patients who are not happy with the appearance, as well as the shape and size, of their buttocks are good candidates. In addition, patients who have lost a significant amount of weight are ideal candidates since weight loss can leave patients with a saggy buttock appearance. Men or women with buttocks lacking shape or that appear to be flat and deflated are ideal candidates.

The average cost for buttock implants is $8000-$10,000. This cost does not include surgical facility fees, post-surgical garment fees or anesthesia fees. The total cost also depends on the region of the United States where the surgery is performed. The surgery is normally not covered by insurance since it is primarily performed for cosmetic reasons and is considered an elective surgery.

The results from buttock augmentation are visible immediately after the procedure. However, it can take several months for any bruising and swelling to resolve. In addition, it can take a few months for the implants to completely settle into place. The final results will be long lasting and can be maintained if the patient practices a healthy lifestyle and stays at a stable weight. The shape and size of the butt can change due to gravity and aging so a follow-up procedure might be necessary at some point.
