Closed Rhinoplasty

Closed rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that is performed to reduce, reshape or alter the appearance of the nose. With this technique, all of the surgical incisions are made inside the nose so there is no external scarring. Although closed rhinoplasty can address the same issues as open rhinoplasty, it is often the preferred method for patients that wish to address any issues with the bridge of the nose.  The surgeon creates tiny incisions in the nose and then lifts the skin to access the cartilage that needs to be removed or reshaped. Once that is finished, the doctor puts the skin back down on the nose and closes the incisions.

A good candidate for closed rhinoplasty is a patient that wants to make a change in the look or function of the nose such as being able to breathe easier. In addition, a person with significant deformities of the nasal cartilage and soft tissues is also an ideal candidate.

The cost of closed rhinoplasty depends on the skill level of the surgeon and the amount of work that needs to be performed. The price also depends on the geographic location of the surgery and fees charged by the doctor or the facility. In general, the cost of closed rhinoplasty is $5000-$10,000.

There will be some swelling and bruising around the eyes and nose for a few weeks. Overall, it can take up to twelve months for the final results to be visible. There will not be a visible scar since the incisions were made on the inside of the nose. The final results should be permanent as long as the patient does not suffer an injury or trauma to the nose.

Rhinoplasty is plastic surgery performed on the nose. Open rhinoplasty is done through incisions created on the inside of the nose as well as a small incision across the columella (the strip of skin running from the tip of the nose to the upper lip that separates the nostrils). Closed rhinoplasty1
