It is sometimes hard to tell twins apart due to their similar facial features and mannerisms. It is especially hard to tell Anna and Lucy DeCinque apart from each other. These sisters, from the city of Perth in Australia, have undergone extensive plastic surgery over the years. The two 33-year-old sisters have spent around $250,000 on cosmetic surgery that includes breast implants, facial tattooing, pixel laser treatments, hair extensions, lip plumping, skin needling and lip fillers. Their goal was to alter and enhance their appearance while still continuing to have an identical look.
However, during a recent interview with New Idea, an Australia-based magazine, the twins say they are going to reverse some of their treatments and not undergo other procedures so they can achieve a look that is new and more natural in appearance.
Anna told New Idea that “we honestly don’t know why we did all of that stuff to ourselves. We regret a lot of things, and if we could go back in time, we would do things a lot differently.”
They say part of their decision was due to bullying they have received on social media. Anna said that “the more popular they got, the more haters we had, and we were getting called everything from ‘plastic Barbie dolls’ to ‘fish lips’. We wanted the biggest everything – particularly lips. We loved the look and feel of big lips. Now we realize they were too big. They stood too much and were disproportionate to the rest of our faces. We were trying to follow a trend but we went too far.”
The twins added that they decided to change their “spider-eyed, trout pout” look thanks to hateful online comments. “We would block the comments, but down deep inside they were hurtful. People would also call us plastic, saying we’d overdone it and now we’re admitting, we did.”
In order to gain a look that is more natural in appearance, the twins decided to get rid of their hair and lash extensions and to stop receiving fillers. According to Anna, there will be “no more facial injections for us, and we will never use Botox. We’ve learned from our mistakes.”
This is a far cry from two years ago when they considered ending their lives due to hating their looks and the loss of their jobs looking after the elderly in a nursing home.
They felt that people thought they were gross since they had changed their look so drastically. They looked so much alike that the only way to tell them apart was via a small beauty spot on the right cheek of Lucy.
Doctors prescribed anti-depressants to the ladies which gave them a major attitude shift. They started to more easily accept who they had become and were able to make the decision to change their altered appearance.
The first change they made was the return of their eyebrows. They originally wanted thin eyebrows, like Pamela Anderson, so they plucked their eyebrows and replaced them with ink to look like the eyebrows belonging to Anderson. They had a few issues since the color kept fading and there was also a change in the popular look of eyebrows. Now, they are letting their eyebrows grow back.
As mentioned above, they decided to stop getting lip fillers and Botox. They say the fact that they don’t have these injections anymore makes them confident and happy to look others in the eyes.
The twins have also dated the same man, auto engineer Ben Byrne, for the past eight years. The sisters say that Byrne has never lectured them about their appearance in all the years they have been together.
In fact, the sisters have announced that they both want to marry Ben. They are looking for a location that will allow both of them to marry the same man. They describe their relationship with him as not being “weird”. Instead, they view the fact they date the same man as “beautiful”. They say they are not hurting anyone with their relationship.
They even plan on going so far as attempting to have babies at the same time with Byrne. The sisters want to experience pregnancy together and have their bodies look the same by being pregnant at the same time. They are not sure if they can make it happen but it is their hope to experience pregnancy together.
