I have been doing some research and have read different things when it comes to breast implant removal and whether the capsule should be removed with the implants or if it is safe to leave the capsule in? I have had my breast implants for the past 15 years and have not experienced any issues with them. About 3 months ago a close family member was diagnosed with breast cancer and I am thinking about getting my implants removed so that I can be able to monitor my health more accurately in the future. I have had one surgeon tell me that the capsule does not need to be removed and that eventually it would absorb into my body and it wouldn’t show in an x-ray. Is this true and if so is it safe to leave in?
