Microneedling

Microneedling is a procedure performed to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin. It works thanks to the creation of microchannels in the skin by using very fine needles. The microinjuries created by the needles promote the creation of collagen and elastin so the skin will look younger and smoother. The treatment improves acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, brown spots and stretch marks. Microneedling can be performed with traditional dermal rollers or newer automated devices. In addition, hyaluronic acid, peptides and platelet rich plasma can be applied during and after the treatment.

Almost anyone is a good candidate for microneedling. Since the treatment is minimally invasive and is not light-based, all skin types are ideal for the treatment.  Exceptions to being a good candidate are patients that have a lingering disease or condition that can potentially cause complications after the treatment.

The cost for microneedling is typically $300-$700 per session. The final cost depends on the number of sessions performed, the amount of work done during each session, the area of the country where it is performed and any fees charged by the doctor or the facility.

Some results might be visible immediately but it generally takes 4-6 weeks to see the desired results. As long as the patient follows the skincare routine given to them by the doctor, the final results should be long lasting and can be considered permanent.
