Invisalign makes use of clear, thin, plastic aligners to apply gentle but constant pressure to the teeth to shift them into better aligned positions. The procedure begins with taking X-rays, photographs and dental impressions of the patient’s teeth. The records are sent to Invisalign along with specific instructions of how the teeth need to move. A computer generates a 3-D rendering of the teeth and a computer model of how the teeth will be moved to the desired positions. The process of making the aligners takes 3-4 weeks. The aligners are to be worn for two weeks each in a specific order that move the teeth.
