Cosmetic Acupuncture

The procedure begins with a regular full body acupuncture treatment to prevent energy congestion in the face. Next, 40-70 tiny needles are inserted in the face. As the needles puncture the skin, they create wounds within its threshold which are called positive microtraumas. When the body senses these wounds, it goes into repair mode. These punctures stimulate the lymphatic and circulatory system which work together to deliver nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells. This nourishes the skin from the inside out. The positive microtraumas also stimulate the production of collagen.

Ideal candidates are healthy individuals looking for a natural, alternative way to reduce signs of aging and get a more relaxed, healthy appearance to the face. Patients who are pregnant or suffering from health conditions like hemophilia or contagious skin diseases are not good candidates. Also, patients suffering that have undergone other cosmetic procedures that involved injections and surgical procedures in the past 2-6 weeks are not good candidates.

Cosmetic acupuncture prices depend on a variety of factors including: the surgeon's level of expertise, the geographic location of the procedure and any fees charged by the doctor or the facility. In general, the cost ranges from $800-$1500.

The procedure reduces the signs of aging and gives a more relaxed, healthy appearance to the face. There could be some slight bleeding and bruising at the sites where the needles were inserted. For optimal results, the recommended course of treatment is 12 to 15 treatments over 2 and a half months followed by maintenance treatments every 4 to 6 weeks. The final results last anywhere from 3-5 years.
