This year marks 20 years since Botox first made its big splash onto the cosmetic scene. According to official Botox Cosmetic reports, roughly 100 million vials have been sold in the United States alone since it was first approved for cosmetic use back in 2002.

Aside from its scientifically proven effectiveness in helping combat wrinkles, one of the big reasons for its ever-growing popularity in recent years has been the willingness of various celebrities to be open about their use of Botox.

For decades, there was a stigma associated with receiving certain types of cosmetic treatments, and many celebrities would go out of their way to deny having any work done - even when it was glaringly obvious. There seemed be this determination amongst the rich and glamorous to maintain the illusion that their looks and beauty were simply the byproduct of genetics and good self-care.

However, that no longer seems to be the case. In the year 2022, there is no shortage of celebrities who are willing to speak openly about the various cosmetic procedures they’ve had done and the treatment they receive - specifically when it comes to Botox.

Let’s take a look at 5 different celebrities who have gone on record to openly discuss their Botox treatments.

Cyndi Crawford

Cyndi Crawford is known for her classic beauty and is considered to be one of the world’s very first supermodels, rising to fame in the late 1980s. She’s gone on record stating that while she believes her healthy lifestyle helps her maintain her youthful appearance, she has no shame in admitting that Botox and other treatments play an instrumental role in improving the quality of her skin.

Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco is one of the biggest sitcom stars of the past two decades, having starred in The Big Bang Theory from 2007-2019 as blonde bombshell Penny Teller. Her down-to-earth personality is a huge factor in her success and relatability, so it’s no surprise that she’s been very forthcoming about the work she’s had done. While she hasn’t spoken specifically in regards to Botox, she’s openly discussed other treatments such as filler, a nose job, and breast augmentation, and believes we should all feel comfortable getting whatever work we want done - as long as we’re doing it for ourselves.

Kelly Ripa

For millions of people, Kelly Ripa is a staple in the world of daytime television, having been one of the stars of the morning talk show Live! since 2001. One of the benefits of Botox is getting the treatment between the eyebrows to eliminate the tension that causes some people to look upset. Ripa addresses this with her natural ability to not take herself too seriously, and has joked about how she knows it’s time to go in for another round of Botox between her eyes when people start asking her if she’s angry.

Chrissy Teigen

One of the most successful models of the 21st century, not to mention the wife of EGOT winner John Legend, Chrissy Teigen has spoken candidly about her use of Botox - but not for the reasons you may think. While Botox is primarily associated with eliminating wrinkles, it has other added benefits as well, such as medical treatment for migraines and headaches, and also as a way to treat excessive sweating. She’s spoken on social media about her use of Botox to address both of these issues.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman is one of the last bonafide international movie stars still working today, and she shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. And while the other celebrities mentioned have had positive experiences with Botox, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention at least one actress who wasn’t a fan of the treatment. Given that Botox works by relaxing the muscles in the face that create wrinkles, it also means that one of the side effects of Botox is a limited ability to use those facial muscles to express yourself. For this reason, some actresses find that Botox gets in the way of them being able to properly emote on camera, as it can leave their face looking “frozen”. This was the case for Kidman, who mentioned back in 2013 that she had her Botox dissolved and could “finally move (her) face again!”

So there you have it! These are just a handful of the celebrities that have gone public with their use of Botox and other cosmetic procedures. Their willingness to speak openly about this aspect of their beauty regimen is very effective in helping reduce the stigma sometimes associated with certain cosmetic treatments.
