Is the Dragon Lady In Texas Real or Urban Legend?

Posted November 02, 2016

Thanks to modern technology and advances in surgical procedures, body modification is enjoyed by many patients who wish to make a change in their appearance. The changes can range from anything as simple as buttock augmentation to larger changes such as a neck lift. While many patients only make one or two changes to their appearance, there is one person who has taken body modification to an extreme level.

Eva Tiamat Baphhomet Medusa, also known as “The Dragon Lady”, was actually born as Richard Hernandez in 1961. Tiamat is transsexual and has been undergoing body modification for the past 20 years. Tiamat prefers the pronoun “it” to describe his identity since the multiple surgeries have been performed in an attempt to make Tiamat look like a dragon.

This ongoing transformation project has cost Tiamat around $60,000 and is a tribute to the reptilians that it views as its parents. Tiamat considers the reptiles to be family since its human parents actually abandoned Tiamat when it was a child. Tiamat was born in the Phoenix area and was abandoned in the woods by its mother and stepfather. The body transformation is its way to honor the reptiles it considers to be its parents. The main reptile being honored is the Western Diamondback rattlesnake.

In order to achieve the look of a rattlesnake, Tiamat has undergone a number of body modification procedures including:

·         Dome implants along the eyebrows

·         The removal and reshaping of its septum and nose cartilage

·         Subdermal implants made to look like horns

·         Ear removal

·         Full body tattoos

·         Having the whites of its eyes dyed

Rather than visit multiple people for these changes, Tiamat went to Emilio Gonzalez for the majority of the work. Gonzalez is a body modification artist who has been part of various tattoo studios and is well known for performing body modification. While many people might find the fact that Tiamat has been treated by a body modification artist instead of a board-certified plastic surgeon dangerous, it claims to have suffered no negative effects from the modifications.

Tiamat says the only change in his eyesight has been the need to wear reading glasses because of his age and not because of the dye injected in his eyes. He also claims to have a heightened sense of hearing and the ability to breathe easier. Tiamat has had some pain from the horn implants. Due to the fact that he had the implants placed in a non-medical facility, he likely was unable to get pain medication prescribed from a doctor.

When it comes to being viewed by society, Tiamat claims there are double standards that make it hard for people to accept its body modifications the same way other cosmetic procedures are accepted. Overall, it is very happy with the changes made and says there is a great deal of personal satisfaction from the modifications. Tiamat says that even with the double standards mentioned earlier, there are more people who have a positive reaction to its altered appearance than negative remarks. After all of the modifications to its body and appearance, Tiamat claims to be happy for the first time ever in its life.
