Breast implant revision corrects deformities that result immediately after breast implant surgery and in implants that have lasted for years. Factors such as aging, malposition of the implants, breast sagging, weight gain or loss and implant rupture impact the breasts. The surgery replaces old breast implants with new implants. The surgeon makes an incision that depends on the type of procedure performed. The incision can be an inframammary incision in the crease of the breast, a vertical incision like a breast lift or an incision that goes some, or all the way around, the areola AKA a periareolar incision. The implants are replaced and sutures are used to close the incision.
