ReDexis

ReDexis is a monophasic, non-animal hyaluronic acid based filler that is based on the combination of cross-linked hyaluronic acid and dextranomer beads. This creates a scaffolding effect for collagen growth which improves the skin’s condition and flexibility. Redexis is not yet approved by the FDA.  Injection locations on the face are marked and then ReDexis is injected. The injection areas are massaged and the results are evaluated to know if additional filler is needed. The treatment has to be repeated once or twice during a three to six week period to get the full benefits.

Ideal candidates have wrinkles, folds and frown lines, horizontal lines on the forehead, nasolabial folds and early signs of aging on the skin. Patients that are hypersensitive to hyaluronic acid, suffer from acne or other inflammatory diseases, are prone to hypertrophic scarring or are pregnant or breast feeding are not good candidates.

The typical cost of ReDexis ranges from $500-$1,300.The final cost depends on the surgeon’s level of expertise, doctor or hospital fees, the geographic location of the procedure and if other procedures are performed at the same time.

The procedure restores a smooth and youthful look that lasts even after the hyaluronic acid has been destroyed. There is no recovery time required after the procedure. A few side effects like swelling, pain, itching and tenderness at the injection site may occur. All of these typically resolve one or two days after treatment. Patients should refrain from rubbing or massaging the injection areas for about 24 hours. The results last for 12-18 months depending on the patient's age and lifestyle.
