Excel HR

Excel HR is a dual wavelength laser treatment for removing unwanted hairs on the skin. The Excel HR handpiece has 2 wavelengths: 755nm for light-skinned individuals and 1064nm for darker-skinned individuals. The handpiece is equipped with a sapphire contact cooling plate to ensure patient comfort. The handpiece emits laser energy which is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat to damage the tube-shaped sacs within the hair follicles that produce hair. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.

Ideal candidates are healthy individuals who want to reduce unwanted hair on the skin. The procedure can also be used to diminish vascular and benign pigmented lesions. Patients with white or gray hair may not have enough pigment targets to be a candidate.

The typical cost ranges from $500-$2000.The final cost depends on the size of the area to be treated, the surgeon’s level of expertise and the geographic location of the procedure.

The procedure removes unwanted hair on the skin. There may be some mild tingling, itching, redness and bruising that dissipate within 24 hours. After a couple of days, the treated hair begins to fall out. Because hair grows in cycles, it typically takes multiple sessions to provide significant hair reduction. Full results are generally seen after 3-5 treatments. The results are long lasting but periodic maintenance is required.
