Cosmelan

Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a multi-ingredient chemical treatment. The first step is the cleansing and prepping of the skin. Then, the Cosmelan mask is applied in a thick layer. The mask must stay on between six and twelve hours depending on the level of correction needed. The Cosmelan mask is removed with a gentle, neutral cleanser and Mesoestetic Hydra-Vital Factor K is applied to comfort the skin and protect moisture. The second step of the procedure is the home care processes. Cosmelan II cream should be applied two to three times a day for two weeks after the first 14 days.

Ideal candidates want to reduce the areas of skin discoloration and hyperpigmentation, improve the look of the skin and alleviate dark spots, blemishes and acne scars. The procedure is safe for all skin tones. Patients that have a history of facial scarring, skin infections, heart diseases, recurrent cold sores or diabetes are not good candidates for the procedure. No glycolic peels or other lightening agents should be used while using Cosmelan.

The typical cost for Cosmelan ranges from $350-$800.The final cost depends on the amount of correction that needs to be done to the skin, the surgeon’s level of expertise and the geographic location of the procedure.

There will be peeling, redness, slight burning and tightening of the skin three to five days after the treatment. After the fifth or sixth day, the peeling will stop and leave smoother skin. Patients should avoid prolonged sun exposure and a full spectrum sunscreen should be worn at all times. After a couple of weeks, the results become evident. The length of the results varies per patient and, in most cases; touch-up treatments are required after 6-12 months.
