Clear Braces

Clear braces are braces that are less noticeable to others thanks to their placement. The procedure begins with the polishing of the teeth. Next, a conditioner is applied to the front surface of the teeth to prepare them for bonding the brackets. Then, an adhesive primer is placed on the teeth to enhance the bonding process. Cement is placed on the back of the brackets and applied to the teeth. The brackets are then hardened in place with a high-intensity light. Finally, the dental arch wires are put into place in the brackets.

Ideal candidates are healthy individuals suffering from mild to moderate spacing and crowding issues, overcrowded smiles, and crooked teeth.  Patients who want to straighten the teeth as well as improve the overall appearance, health and function of the mouth are also suitable candidates. The procedure isn't suitable for patients suffering from major overcrowding or complicated tooth movement. Patients with unhealthy oral tissues are also not suitable candidates.

The typical cost ranges from $4000-$8000. Factors that can influence the final cost include fees charged by the doctor or the facility, the surgeon's level of expertise and the geographic location of the procedure.

The procedure straightens and realigns the teeth. There is minimal irritation, tightness, soreness and discomfort experienced as a result of the arch wires tightening the teeth into position. Patients are advised to maintain proper oral hygiene and avoid hard foods. Adjustment appointments are made every 3-10 weeks to check and monitor the progress of the treatment. It generally takes 1-2 years for full results to be evident and the braces to be removed and replaced with retainers.
