Cheek Fillers

Cheek fillers entails a range of products and substances with the most common being hyaluronic acid fillers. The treatment is designed to add volume, contour the face and rejuvenate the treated area. The procedure involves marking strategic points on the face as the appropriate injection sites for the filler. The injection sites are cleansed with an antibacterial agent and anesthesia is applied. Injection of the fillers usually takes only a few minutes per site. The process of injecting, massaging and evaluating the result is performed and additional filler is added if needed. Once the results are deemed satisfactory, any markings will be cleaned off.

The best candidates for this procedure are non-smokers in good overall health that don't have any medical conditions that can impair healing.  Good candidates for cheek fillers have moderate to severe folds or wrinkles on the face, hollows in the cheek and temple area, deflated looking cheekbones that are flat, bags or lines under the eyes, wrinkles on the cheeks and cheeks that lack definition. Patients with a history of extreme allergies might not be good candidates as they might be allergic to the filler.

The typical cost for cheek fillers ranges from $600-$2000. The final cost varies depending on fees charged by the hospital or surgical facilities, any necessary medical tests, the level of expertise of the doctor, the geographic location of the procedure and if any other procedures are performed at the same time.

Injections of cheek fillers will gently lift the cheeks. The surrounding skin will also be tightened resulting in a rejuvenated face. Recovery time varies for each patient and for each type of filler injected. In most cases, no downtime is needed and patients can resume most activities right away. It is generally recommended that patients should avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. The area may feel a bit tender for a day or two. Also, the patient should avoid touching the face after the treatment. The results last from six months to one year.
