Artefill

Artefill is injectable dermal filler made of synthetic microspheres and bovine (cow) collagen.  It is used primarily to treat nasolabial creases, lines and folds in the face. The injection sites are injected with Artefill and then the injected areas are massaged and the results are evaluated. The treatment comprises two sessions each that are 15 to 30 minutes in length. There must be a gap of 3 to 6 weeks between two consecutive sessions.

Ideal candidates are individuals who test negative to a bovine collagen allergy test and have moderate to severe folds, wrinkles and nasolabial folds. Patients that have a history of extreme allergies, hypersensitivity to collagen products or lidocaine or have an infection or medical condition in, or near, the planned injection sites are not good candidates.  Patients prone to thick scarring (hypertrophic) formation and/or excessive scarring (keloid) are also not good candidates.

The typical cost for an Artefill procedure ranges from $1000-$1500.The final cost varies depending on hospital or surgical fees, the surgeon’s level of expertise and the geographic location of the procedure.

The procedure will smooth wrinkles and folds to give a younger and radiant look. There is minimal downtime needed after the procedure. There could be some slight itching in the injection site, minor swelling, redness, bruising or tenderness that normally subsides in one or two days. It takes about three months for the full effects of the procedure to be seen. Artefill results last for a period of 5-10 years.
