What are the Most Popular Noninvasive Plastic Surgery Procedures

Posted March 13, 2018

While millions of people have plastic surgery each year, many patients do not want to undergo the necessary recovery time from an invasive procedure. Thankfully, there is a wide selection of noninvasive procedures that patients can undergo. According to a recent poll of doctors by a fashion and beauty website, here are some of the most popular noninvasive procedures currently performed in the United State.

  • Selfie Sculpting – This procedure gets its name from the desire to look good on social media. Selfie sculpting is a number of treatments performed to give a patient a more youthful and defined face. Each patient has different goals so the total number of treatments depends on each individual. Selfie sculpting can take between 30-60 minutes and involves injections of various fillers in the face and/or jawline of the patient. Fillers are injected in the jawline to tighten the skin and give it a more defined look. Kybella can be used to eliminate fat under the chin. Fillers are also injected to give the lips more volume and Botox helps to eliminate lines and wrinkles on the face.
  • Tip Flip – The name “tip flip” refers to a 5-minute nonsurgical rhinoplasty procedure. A tip flip creates the appearance of nasal projection and rotates the tip of the nose upwards. The bridge of the nose, as well as the tip, is injected with hyaluronic acid to create a nose that is smooth and with more height.
  • Facial Rejuvenation via fillers – Injected facial fillers smooths wrinkles, eliminate lines and give volume to the lips. Fillers are made out of multiple substances and some of them include hyaluronic acid (Restylane and Juvederm), bovine collagen (Zyplast) and calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse).
  • miraDry – This is a procedure that can completely eliminate sweat and odor from the underarm area. The treatment uses microwaves to target and destroy sweat glands. The doctor determines where the sweating occurs and then the armpits are covered with an iodine solution. Once the iodine is dry, the area is covered with cornstarch. A miraDry handpiece is applied between the targeted areas so patients may feel a sensation of “sucking” as the skin is drawn toward the handpiece. The effects of the microwave are felt between 2 and 5-mm below the skin. The treatment takes about 20 minutes per armpit.

While these are some of the most popular treatments currently being performed on patients, research is always happening on new techniques and treatments to help patients achieve the results they desire. It will be interesting to see if these treatments stay popular in 2019 or if they are replaced on the list by new cosmetic surgery procedures.
