Michelle Pfeiffer made a comeback on the big screen this year as the original Wasp in “Ant-Man and the Wasp”. Many movie audiences got a chuckle out of her appearance in the film. Her character had been trapped in another realm for years yet she emerged from the experience looking like her character had not aged all that much during her time away from Earth.
Was it just movie magic or does she actually have a very youthful look in person?
Her appearance did not look all that different on the red carpet and while she was doing press for the film. At the age of 60, she looks much younger than her actual age. Many celebrity watchers have their theories about a number of cosmetic procedures that she has used to maintain her appearance.
When it comes to celebrities maintaining their youthful appearance, there are a number of popular procedures including Botox, fillers and a facelift. However, these solutions can sometimes lead to a look that is stiff, stretched or puffy in appearance.
Thankfully, Pfeiffer seems to have taken a more subtle approach to any work done on her face. Some of the work she is suspected of having includes:
The speculation about Michelle and a possible facelift includes the idea that she had a surgical procedure similar to FAMI (Fat Autologous Muscle Injection). This is a non-invasive procedure that uses the stem cells of the patient to rejuvenate and restore a youthful appearance. Fat grafting, which is also called fat transfer or multi-level fat grafting, is a technique that adds volume and makes the facial features plumper in appearance by using the patient’s own fat. The surgeon extracts fat from a donor site somewhere on the body of the patient via liposuction using a cannula. It is then processed, cleansed and injected back into the body. The fat works to fill-in the areas of the face that have lines and wrinkles and to add the volume that has disappeared with age. This procedure can be performed on a number of facial areas including:
The sunken area under the eyes
According to Dr. Norman Leaf, a plastic surgeon located in Beverly Hills, says that there is not really one particular procedure that is the most popular among celebrities. Dr. Leaf says the procedure choice “depends on the level of aging they are at in life. Starting with skincare, makeup and lighting and then certain treatments such as fillers, Botox and skin treatments like lasers and IPL and then moving on to surgeries like facelifts, eyelid surgeries and fat grafting.”
Even with the right amount of work performed on the face, patients need to work hard to maintain the results of their surgery. Such factors as proper nutrition, a regular exercise routine and a healthy lifestyle help to keep the results of cosmetic surgery intact.
Michelle Pfeiffer seems to recognize this fact as she has acknowledged the fact that she uses sunscreen on a regular basis when she steps outside. She has told multiple magazines that she is vigilant in the use of sunscreen in order to prevent and diminish any ultraviolet damage.
Back in 1999, Michelle told People that, in her 20s, she did not do anything “beauty wise” to keep her appearance looking youthful. According to Pfeiffer, she “smoked cigarettes, ate whatever I wanted and used bar soap on my face. People were horrified by how I treated my skin.”
As she got older, her skincare routine evolved and changed for the better. Besides using sunscreen with a proper SPF number, she also follows a vegan diet to stay healthy.
While there has been continued speculation about her appearance, Michelle Pfeiffer has not confirmed or denied having any kind of cosmetic surgery work performed on her face. Until such time as she decides to address the issue with the media, celebrity watchers will continue to closely examine her appearance as well as continue to debate any possible procedures she has undergone to maintain her youthful look both on and off the big screen.
