Can Radiofrequency Really Tighten the Skin? Exploring FaceTite as an Alternative to a Facelift

Posted February 24, 2022

Technology continues to advance at a rapid rate, which has resulted in new and innovative alternatives to traditional cosmetic procedures. One of the newest treatments on the market is a procedure called FaceTite, which is presented as a minimally invasive alternative to the more daunting process of a traditional facelift.

What Does a FaceTite Procedure Do?

A FaceTite procedure is perfect for anyone looking to address sagging skin and wrinkles on the face, specifically in the areas of the cheeks, chin, and jawline. Also referred to as radio frequency assisted liposuction (RFAL), FaceTite has been shown to tighten and tone the skin through a minimally invasive process that is much easier on the body than an actual facelift.

What Does a FaceTite Procedure Entail?

During the procedure, the provider will make a small incision in the skin. They’ll then insert a small device underneath the skin to release radiofrequency energy waves as a way to disrupt and liquify the fat cells. This process causes the skin to contract, at which point another device is inserted into the skin to suction out the liquified fat. The radiofrequency also leads to an increase in collagen production and other skin tightening properties, which are essential in keeping skin looking toned and smooth.

What’s the Recovery Process Like?

FaceTite is an outpatient procedure, and sessions typically last about 45 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Unlike a traditional facelift, which can take up to 6 months to heal, a FaceTite procedure has a relatively quick recovery process. While there may be some post-op swelling and bruising for up to 4 weeks, the pain is minimal and most people are able to return to work within 2 days of the procedure.

How Soon Will I See Results?

You’ll likely notice smoother skin within just a few days of the procedure, though it will likely take several months before you see full results. It’s important to discuss your expectations with your provider, as results do tend to vary.

How Frequently Do I Need to Have FaceTite Done?

FaceTite isn’t a procedure you’ll need to have repeated very frequently, as results are meant to last for several years. However, depending on the current state of your skin and the results you’re seeking, it may be worth supplementing FaceTite with other treatments, such as microneedling or dermabrasion in order to get the long-lasting effects you may want.

Does It Actually Work?

Given that this is still a relatively new procedure on the market, there is a lot of variance in the efficacy of this treatment. However, many patients have had great success with it, particularly those whose current skin conditions are relatively mild to moderate. For more severe cases with deep lines and extreme sagging, a traditional facelift may be required. Your provider will be able to assist you with making the decision that is best for you based on your specific needs and expectations.

How Much Does it Cost?

The cost of a FaceTite procedure varies greatly, based on a wide variety of factors. The size of the area being treated, each provider’s specific fees, and your geographical location all play a significant role in determining the final price of the procedure. Reports show that the cost typically ranges between $1,500 and $7,000.

What Next?

If you’re someone who’s been considering a facelift, but the procedure itself and the subsequent recovery period seem daunting, it may be worth speaking to a skincare specialist or cosmetic surgeon about the possibility of FaceTite.
