How Restylane revitalizes the look of the under eye area

The desire to have a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance to the face is often hard to achieve thanks to bags under the eyes. Under eye bags can make a person look tired and worn out at all times. In addition, the under eye bags can happen because of a loss of volume in the area under the eyes so a person will have a hollow look to that area. In order to achieve a look that is younger and more refreshed, patients have turned to Restylane to achieve the look they desire. Besides not wanting to look tired at all times, many patients want to have Restylane placed under the eyes so they will look better on social media. People want to be able to post photos where they feel they look their best without having to worry about looking tired in the photos.

To learn more about the use of Restylane as an under eye filler, Cosmetic Town TV recently visited the Beverly Hills office of Dr. Demetri Arnaoutakis to discover some fascinating facts about Restylane and its ability to improve the look of the under eye area:

Restylane for Under Eye Area Procedure

Restylane is hyaluronic acid-based filler that works to plump the targeted area where it is injected as well as smooth out wrinkles. It also works to minimize the dark circles that can be viewed under the eyes that give a person a tired and worn out look.

The filler is injected underneath the skin, by a board-certified medical professional, in areas where there has been a loss of volume. Restylane works to smooth out the skin and also lift it so it has a plumper appearance. The change in the appearance of the under eye area is achieved by the hyaluronic acid clinging to the skin. In addition, the water that is located in the acid provides additional volume. The acid also works to attract additional water which helps to preserve the volume that is added to the area under the eyes.

Restylane can be injected in the office of a doctor and does not involve any type of incisions being made in the treated area. Depending on the amount of Restylane that is being injected by the doctor, the treatment can take anywhere from a few minutes to a half hour.

The process starts with the doctor cleaning the injection site with antiseptic. The doctor will then inject the desired amount of Restylane under the skin of the under eye area using an ultrafine needle.

Different Forms of Restylane

When it comes to reducing or eliminating the appearance of under eye bags, the traditional form of Restylane is the preferred method for doctors. Restylane can also improve the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds on the face.

Some of the other forms of Restylane include:

  • Restylane Silk is ideal for treating wrinkles around the mouth and providing lip augmentation
  • Restylane Refyne can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Restylane Lyft is used to provide cheek augmentation, reduce laugh lines and contour the appearance of the middle of the face
  • Restylane Defyne is ideal for reducing the appearance of wrinkles around the nose and the mouth

Restylane Recovery, Results and Risks

There is little to no recovery time necessary after having a Restylane injection. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the treatment. There might be some bruising and swelling at the injection site that can take about a week to resolve. Patients should also avoid the amount of sun exposure they receive after the treatment.

There will be some immediate improvements seen after the Restylane injections are performed. In general, the full results can be seen about a week after the injections are administered by the doctor.  Restylane filler does not provide permanent results so additional injections will be needed to maintain the results. Overall, the results of Restylane for under eye bags can last anywhere from 12-18 months,

Common risks of having Restylane injections include:

  • Bruising
  • Bleeding
  • Irregularities in the appearance of the treated area
  • Swelling
  • Tenderness when touching the treated area

Restylane for Under Eye Area Cost

The cost of Restylane depends on the number of injections that are performed and the amount of Restylane that is used by the doctor. In general, Restylane can cost anywhere from $500-$800 per syringe.

Restylane for Under Eye Area Consultation Appointment

Before having Restylane injections placed in the under eye area, patients need to schedule a consultation appointment with a board-certified doctor.  The doctor will examine the patient to determine the amount of Restylane that will be needed to achieve the desired results. In addition, the doctor will make sure the patient is an ideal candidate for the treatment or if any other cosmetic skin rejuvenation treatments can be used to reduce the appearance of the under eye bags.
