Cosmetic Town Shines the March Spotlight on Cosmetic Fat Treatments

Posted March 12, 2019
Cosmetic town will be spotlighting the month on cosmetic fat procedures

When it comes to the human body, excess fat is a normal part of life for the majority of people on an everyday basis. Some people try their best to get rid of excess fat while others make use of the fat and transfer it to another part of the body. Patients with stubborn fat on the body that is resistant to diet and exercise can get rid of the fat thanks to the cosmetic fat treatment known as liposuction. They can also have the fat removed from one part of the body and then transfer it to another area of the body to provide greater volume and shape to the targeted area. The process of transferring fat from one area of the body to another is known as fat grafting.

While liposuction and fat grafting are well-known to the general public, some patients might not be aware of exactly how the procedures are performed as well as the various cosmetic fat techniques available to achieve the desired results. Cosmetic Town turns the spotlight on cosmetic fat treatments in the month of March with a month filled with news articles, doctor interviews and videos showing how fat can be removed or used for another purpose on the body.

Liposuction Cosmetic Fat Treatment

Liposuction is performed in order to reshape the body. The surgeon breaks up the fat cells that are located in the area targeted by the liposuction procedure. After the fat cells are broken apart, the surgeon removes them from the body or they are simply excreted naturally from the body of the patient.

Liposuction is able to be performed using a number of techniques:

  • Traditional Liposuction – The surgeon inserts a cannula, which is a thin tube, through an incision that is created in the skin of the patient. The doctor manually moves the cannula in order to break apart any stubborn fat. Once the fat is ready to broken apart and is also ready to be removed, the doctor uses the cannula to remove the fat.
  • Tumescent Liposuction – This liposuction method is performed in much the same manner as traditional liposuction. However, the surgeon specifically injects a solution made of lidocaine, salt solution and epinephrine into the area of fat that is targeted to be treated. Overall, the amount of fluid that is injected into the patient is normally three times the amount of fat targeted for removal by the surgeon.
  • Laser Liposuction – This technique is also known as liposculpture and it uses laser energy to break the fat cells apart before removing them using a cannula.
  • CoolLipo – This minimally invasive method removes fat from more sensitive areas such as the neck, chin, arms and jowls. A laser breaks the fat cells apart in the targeted areas.
  • SlimLipo – A laser is used to melt the fat cells in the targeted areas.

Fat Grafting to Remove Fat on Patients

At the start of the cosmetic fat treatment known as fat grafting, liposuction is used to harvest fat from other areas of the body such as the abdomen, thighs or buttocks. Once the targeted amount of fat is removed, it is placed in a centrifuge and spun very quickly in order to separate the fat from the fluids. The fat is then purified and cleansed before being injected into the targeted area using a layered technique to give an even distribution as well as a more natural look after the injected fat integrates with the residing fat. During the injections, the surgeon massages the treatment area to create a smooth contour between the skin surface and the injected fat. The fat is injected into another area of the body to provide more contour, volume and shape to the targeted area.

The Spotlight Turns on Cosmetic Fat Treatments

It seems obvious to say but fat is a common theme among patients of all ages and races. Some people are desperate to get rid of the extra fat on their body while others want to use the currently existing fat to address areas of the body lacking in size or volume. No matter the purpose of removing the fat, or using it elsewhere on the body, any cosmetic fat treatment should be performed by a board-certified surgeon.

Cosmetic Town is here to help patients get a better idea of their options when it comes to removing fat or moving it elsewhere on the body. The month of March will feature articles focusing on cosmetic liposuction and fat grafting well as the costs and results of these cosmetic fat treatments. We will also have exclusive videos from the Cosmetic Town TV staff and a look at the best doctors performing cosmetic fat treatments across the country.
