Veleslava Grigorieva is a 40-year-old woman facing a long road to recovery after undergoing plastic surgery from two Russian doctors that cost her more than $25,000.
A criminal case has been filed against the two doctors and they are accused of leaving her with a gaping hole in her buttock and her nipples “in the wrong place”. Veleslava told a newspaper that the pain after the surgery to improve her looks was so bad after the surgery that she had to “book three seats on a plane because I couldn’t sit down for more than a few minutes.”
Criminal charges were filed against the senior surgeons at Nudelman Cosmetology and Plastic Surgery Clinic in Ekaterinburg (a city in Russia). They face up to six years in jail if they are convicted on charges of damaging her health.
Grigorieva has shown photos of her “plastic surgery from hell” to the public in order force legal action to be taken by authorities. However, the decision to share her story has not been an easy one as she has faced scorn and humiliation from people who questioned her decision to undergo plastic surgery in the first place.
She claims that the initial surgery, performed by Igor Tsvetkov, caused her nipples to be placed too high on her body which also caused them to be in the wrong place. She had a follow-up corrective surgery to address the issue but it did not solve the problem.
She decided to return to the clinic to have a new operation performed by another surgeon, Nikolay Golubkov. She said that the second doctor agreed to perform a new operation on her breasts while also suggesting she should “improve my buttocks”.
Grigorieva had a new round of liposuction as well as a procedure known as “lipo-lifting” where the buttocks are made larger through the use of fat transfer. The pain was so great after this procedure that she visited another medical clinic where she was told that she had an abscess in one buttock. However, the second clinic did not want to receive any of the blame for the issues she was facing and refused to help her.
She finally flew back to Moscow where a new clinic removed a good portion of her buttock.
A criminal case was launched in Russia with the Russian Investigative Committee saying the two surgeons failed “to meet safety requirements” that are necessary when performing plastic surgery.
Veleslava says she is still struggling with the consequences of having the surgeries and that the surgeries impacted all aspects of her life including her physical health. She told a newspaper that “firstly, it is a lot of stress, and secondly, material damage, because I lost my job and sold an expensive car in order to (pay for corrective surgery).” She added that “I am not a public person, but I had to put my history on public display in order to help myself and attract the attention of other people to the problem related to the quality of the work of the plastic surgeons.”
Veleslava went on to say that many people wrote nasty things about her and claimed that she is guilty in this case because she decided to go under the knife in the pursuit of beauty, However, she wants the public to know that she is 40-years-old and feels there is nothing wrong with wanting to improve her appearance. Veleslava added that she always kept in shape and went to the gym but, like many people, she had certain worries about her appearance and thought there were some drawbacks to her current look. She trusted the suggestions of the doctor and decided to have plastic surgery.
The two surgeons involved in the case have not commented on the criminal case. The clinic had previously issued a statement saying “We tell our patients about all the risks before any procedures. We never betray our patients and never leave them in trouble, we never refuse to help.”
However, after the surgery on her backside, Veleslava said her bottom was leaking because of the wounds in her buttocks and that the entire area was black and blue. When she asked the doctors about this issue, she claims that she was told this was normal and that she should go have a massage to ease the pain.
Veleslava says her breasts look worse than before and that the area has loose folds of skin and scars.
There is currently no date scheduled for the conclusion of the criminal case.
