Tom Cruise - Plastic Surgery Spotted at Baseball Game?

Did Tom Cruise have plastic surgery?

The major league baseball playoffs are in full swing but the main story at the game last weekend did not concern the baseball game. Tom Cruise was spotted in the crowd in San Francisco during Game 2 of the playoff series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants. The international movie star seemed to have a puffier than usual appearance as videos and photos of the global superstar started to appear online from others at the game.

Tom Cruise - Cosmetic Surgery Changes?

Cruise appeared to be very friendly with the fans as he was seen smiling in the stands and waving to his fans. However, there were some people who took to Twitter to make fun of his puffier look. Some of their comments included:

  • "What's up with the bloated chipmunk cheeks?"
  • "What he do to his face, same doctor as Wayne Newton?"
  • "What have you done to your gorgeous face?!!!! I was soooo disappointed when I saw you in the stands at the Dodgers game! STOP putting crap into your face please!!!!"
  • "What the hell is going on with his face?? Is he having an allergic reaction??"
  • "Tom has done something to his face or he has gained some weight. But that is our Tom!"

Even with all of the jokes and comments about his appearance, there were others online who defended the 59-year-old actor by saying he is simply aging naturally.

  • "Listen, I don't like tom cruise (AT ALL), but I'm seriously sick of twitter trashing people for their weight fluctuations. people are allowed to gain and lose weight, and it's really nunya!!! stop being fatphobic!"
  • "He still look great for his age. He's almost 60 for Pete's sake. I wasn't expecting the 80s hair plugs though. He must wear some of that hair thickener and lost of make-up for public appearances"

Tom Cruise - Was it Really Him at the Baseball Game?

There were also several users on Twitter who did not believe that the man in the stands at the baseball game was actually the well-known actor. They argued online that the person at the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants game was actually an imposter.

Molly Knight, a former reporter for ESPN, was one of the many people questioning whether it was actually Cruise in the stands. She tweeted, "Gonna spend the rest of tonight and all of tomorrow wondering if some random dude convinced the Giants he was Tom Cruise." (Knight later confirmed that it was Cruise in the stands.)

Tom Cruise's Face - A Medical Expert Speaks Out on the Subject

In order to try and get to the bottom of the subject, The Sun Newspaper asked Alice Henshaw, an aesthetic nurse prescriber in London, for her medical opinion about his appearance (even though the actor is not her patient). Henshaw told the newspaper, "Tom definitely looks swollen and puffy, which could be due to filler, post-procedure swelling, or weight gain. Often, surgical procedures such as a platysmaplasty, or neck lift, combined with a mid-facelift could create this type of swelling in these areas, and scars are easily disguised."

Since Cruise often plays an action hero on the big screen, it is sometimes easy to forget that he is almost 60 years old. His face is his calling card in Hollywood, and it is his decision if he wants to gain a few pounds or have some sort of cosmetic procedure to alter his appearance. There are some people who want their favorite actors to remain eternally young even if they need to have fillers or a facelift to retain a youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

John Ales, who is also an actor, tweeted a good point to remember when it comes to the action star. "You can be 60 years old. You can be Tom Cruise. But if you start looking like a 60-year-old Tom Cruise the world just piles on the mean. I think you look great Maverick."

Celebrity plastic surgery is always a tricky proposition for stars of all ages and categories (actors, musicians, models, etc.). They want to retain a youthful and engaging look, but they also don't want it to be obvious to others they had any type of cosmetic surgery performed on their face (or other parts of the body).

Celebrities are often held to a higher standard than the rest of the public because they are in the spotlight most of the time and come into our home on a TV, computer, or photos from a red-carpet event. They have to look like the public expects them to and, if they do not have the correct appearance, the world wants to know how they changed their appearance. Celebrity plastic surgery is a thriving business, but it is also a business where the patients that take part in the procedure often try to hide their results or simply do not acknowledge the difference in their appearance to their fans.
