Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy Treatment

Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy is a cosmetic treatment used to tighten the skin and heat the fat just below the surface. Venus Freeze uses radiofrequency energy to heat the skin for tightening and stimulate collagen production. On the other hand, Venus Legacy adds suction to slightly pull the tissue into the machine. Therefore, the underlying fat also becomes heated and results in a reduction of fat. Venus Freeze can be used on areas such as the face where patients may want to maintain volume for youthfulness but Venus Legacy can be used on other areas where the patient wants to get rid of fat.

Am I a Good Candidate For Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy?

GOOD CANDIDATES for Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy treatments may include:

  • Male or female patients who want to improve fine lines, wrinkles or age-related issues
  • Patients with good skin tone but a little bit of skin laxity
  • Any patient who wants a pain free skin tightening treatment with zero downtime
  • Patients with any skin tone
  • Patients who want an improvement with mild cellulite

The following patients are NOT GOOD CANDIDATES for this treatment:

  • Patients with an uncontrolled thyroid gland disorder
  • Patients with active inflammation and/or an infection in the treatment area
  • Patients who are looking for a one-time treatment

How is Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy Performed?

The procedure can be performed in a doctor’s office or spa facility and does not require anesthesia. Venus skin treatments take between 15 to 30 minutes per session.

The doctor will move a handheld device with tiny pins along the treatment area. The patient will feel short bursts of heat as the pins emit Pulsed Magnetic Fields (PMF) and Radio Frequency (RF) energy within the dermal tissue. The heat will start out low and gradually get hotter but if it becomes too hot, the doctor can adjust the level lower. At the same time, an adjustable pulsed suction can gently pull the skin into the device allowing the energy to penetrate deeper to target and heat the underlying fat. The heat from the device damages the fat cells for natural elimination. Patients will need 6 to 8 treatment sessions per area depending on the patient’s goals and the area being treated. The sessions should be spaced one or two weeks apart.

Ultherapy

An alternative treatment to Venus Freeze and Venus Legacy is Ultherapy. Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to heat the tissue at a deeper level without impacting the surface. The treatment can effectively lift the skin and muscle in order to provide better results. Additionally, Ultherapy is typically a one-time treatment since it creates a much hotter environment than Venus skin treatments. However, there is a higher risk of a burn with Ultherapy and the procedure requires injections of local anesthetic since it can be painful.

What Is The Cost Of Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy Treatments?

The cost of Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy treatments will depend on the size of the treatment area and how many treatments will be needed to achieve the desired results. The average cost of Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy treatments are $500 per session. However, this price may fluctuate according to the geographic location of the office and the doctor’s skills.

Recovery and Downtime

There is no RECOVERY or DOWNTIME with Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy treatments. The treatment area may appear slightly flushed and warm to the touch, much like sunburn, but this should subside within 1 or 2 hours. Patients can return to their daily schedule immediately after treatment. There is no aftercare needed and patients can immediately apply lotion or makeup after treatment.

Results

The results from Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy treatments are not immediate since it takes time and multiple sessions for the gradual tightening of the treated area. However, patients will begin to notice some improvement after several sessions which will continue to progress over the course of the treatment. Final results can be seen 3-4 months after the final session as the skin continues to tighten with collagen production. The skin should appear fresher, smoother and more youthful looking. Since the skin will continue to age, patients will need maintenance treatments to preserve the results.

Limitations of Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy Treatment

The limitations of Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy treatments include:

  • They heat from the top layer of skin, and move downward, so there’s a limit to how hot the treatment can get
  • Venus Legacy should not be used on the face unless the patient wishes to reduce fat volume in the area
  • The degree of improvement in patients with extremely lax skin
  • Risks of Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy Treatment

The risks of Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy treatments include:

  • Pinkness of the skin that can last 24 hours
  • Contact burn
  • Localized nodules due to high heat
  • Internal scarring
  • Surface irregularities

Consulting an Experienced Doctor

Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy treatments can smooth out fine lines and wrinkles while tightening sagging skin, reducing fat and improving cellulite. The heat from the treatment encourages new collagen growth to restore a fresher, more youthful appearance. However, Venus Freeze/Venus Legacy treatments may not be right for everyone. Anyone considering this type of treatment should consult with a board-certified doctor who performs these treatments often. A skilled doctor can determine the best treatment option, help minimize the risks and provide the most optimal outcome.
