CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction procedure also known as cryolipolysis. CoolSculpting reduces excess body fat (underneath the skin) resistant to diet and exercise. The procedure cools subcutaneous fat to a point where the fat cells in the body become destroyed and are then absorbed by the body. It is performed using a handheld device containing applicators. An applicator and a gel pad are placed on the treatment area. The applicator cools the targeted fat. A suction device removes fat by moving the device over the skin. Some of the most commonly targeted areas include the flanks, abdomen, under the chin, fat on the arms and the back.

Ideal candidates for CoolSculpting include men and women who follow a healthy diet and exercise on a regular basis. CoolSculpting candidates should be within a 20 pound range of their ideal weight. Additionally, ideal candidates are those who want to avoid the constraints that come with liposuction such as pain, anesthesia and compression garments. In general, anyone who wants to get rid of excess fat in areas such as the flanks, abdomen, under the chin, arms, and the back is a good candidate. Pregnant women are not good candidates and obese individuals are not candidates as this is not a weight loss procedure.

The average price for CoolSculpting is between $1500 and $4500. CoolSculpting can be done for both small areas and large areas. The price for CoolSculpting is not fixed as it depends on several factors such as the size of the treatment area, the number of sessions, how many areas are being treated and the geographic location of the procedure.

After one treatment, an individual can lose a good amount of the fat in a treated area. Patients may experience some redness, swelling and bruising. These effects are caused by the skin’s exposure to cold temperature and would disappear after a few weeks. Patients can speed up the recovery process by following their normal exercise routine. Most patients start seeing their results after four weeks. However, patients may have to wait for up to twelve weeks before they see the optimal results. Certain patients may need as many as three sessions per treatment area to achieve the desired result.
