A trend that has emerged since Donald Trump entered the White House is that a number of patients are undergoing plastic surgery to look like his wife. For example, a mother of two from Texas recently underwent multiple procedures to look like Melania Trump.
Claudia Sierra is a mother of two who visited a plastic surgeon to try and change her appearance to look more like Mrs. Trump. The list of procedures she had to look like Melania include:
When asked the reasoning behind her efforts to look like Mrs. Trump, Sierra said “Melania for me illustrates power and strength; she is our first lady, and I am looking forward to more closely resembling her and becoming a better version of me.”
Franklin Rose, the plastic surgeon working with Sierra, says she represents a growing trend among patients. Rose sees many female patients in his office that want to look like Ivanka Trump. In turn, he is not surprised by the number of women who want to also look like Melania Trump.
Many doctors point to social media as one of the main reasons patients want to look like the Trumps as well as other celebrities. Seeing the photos of their favorite celebrities online leads people to try and imitate the styles and looks they see on social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. While doctors are used to patients wanting to change their look to match celebrities, they do try and set realistic expectations and explain the limitations in trying to achieve the appearance of others when it comes to plastic surgery.
