More Dads Are Getting Plastic Surgery

More fathers are getting plastic surgery than before

Father’s Day was this past weekend and many dads received socks, a necktie or even a day at the golf course as a present from their kids. However, there are some fathers who received the gift of plastic surgery as a growing number of dads are deciding to have surgical and non-invasive treatments.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the number of cosmetic procedures performed on men has grown by 325\\\% over the last 20 years. When asked about the rise in male cosmetic surgeries, Dr. Doris Day, a New York City dermatologist, said “The fact that we have so many treatments now that have little-to-no downtime and are minimally to non-invasive, it’s really opened up the market to men.”

There are a number of factors behind the rise in male plastic surgery and they include:

  • Fathers wanting to look their best as they start dating again after a divorce
  • Dads who feel pressure to compete in the job market
  • Fathers who want to look good for major life events like weddings or graduations
  • Midlife crisis
  • Dads wanting to look like celebrities they see on social media and red carpets

When it comes to the procedures men want to undergo, the ASAPS lists:

Before making the final decision to undergo any type of plastic surgery, male patients need to do proper research in order to find a board-certified surgeon who is experienced in performing the procedure of choice. The surgeon will consult with the patient in order to determine if he is an ideal plastic surgery patient. The doctor will also help set realistic expectations and let the patient know the pros and cons of having plastic surgery.
